I went looking for somewhere to take the kids out to eat near Sutonggol in Daejeon and ended up at Boksakkot Pineun Jip (복사꽃피는집), an octopus stir-fry restaurant. It's not just one dish — the set comes with side dishes, mukbap (jelly noodle salad), bibimbap ingredients and pizza, and it's all genuinely good, plus there's a kids' room and easy parking. It made for a stress-free meal with my 6-year-old daughter and 17-month-old son.
Where is Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch, and is there parking?
The address is 238-34 Wongyesan-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, 1st floor, Boksakkot Pineun Jip. It's an octopus specialist near Sutonggol in Hakha-dong.
One reason I keep coming back here is that there's a private parking lot — so convenient!
On weekends, the office building parking lot behind the restaurant opens up too, so parking is never a hassle :)
Inside Boksakkot Pineun Jip: yes, there is a kids' room
The inside is really spacious, with lots of tables and room to spare! And there's a small kids' room inside the restaurant, so parents can actually eat in peace :)
Boksakkot Pineun Jip menu: are there dishes for kids?

Besides the signature octopus stir-fry, there's even a jjuchipa — octopus with pasta together!
Worried the octopus is too spicy for little kids? Don't be — there are plenty of options like braised short ribs, kids' spaghetti and rice balls, so the kids' menu has you covered 😊
What we ordered at Boksakkot Pineun Jip: an honest review
We ordered: octopus stir-fry for two, rice balls, and extra cheese.

Once you order, they set the whole table full :)

Fresh, light side dishes like bean sprouts, mukbap and salad!

Surprisingly good japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), crunchy young radish kimchi! The side dishes really deliver — the bean sprouts especially are so good 😊

Spicy octopus stir-fry with extra cheese
Finally, the octopus stir-fry arrives! With extra cheese it looks absolutely wild haha. The cheese melts over the hot octopus, softening the spice while boosting the savory flavor ^^
The combo of spicy sauce and stretchy melted cheese works so well together that I think I'll always add cheese from now on!

Eating your fill of cheese like this is just so, so good!

I ordered the octopus spicy, and honestly, it needs to be at least that spicy for the fire-grilled smokiness to really shine through! I recommend spicy :)
The octopus itself wasn't small or chewy — it was plump and bouncy, with great texture the more you chewed.
The spicy sauce soaks deep into the octopus, and with the smoky char hitting right after, you just naturally start craving rice.
Wrapping it in melted cheese makes it a treat for both your mouth and your eyes!

Rice balls: enough for a child's whole meal
We also ordered rice balls! They're made round by hand, and dipped lightly in octopus sauce — a real delicacy.

For the kids, make these up and it's a satisfying meal solved right away!

For the adults, the nutty rice balls coated in rich, spicy octopus sauce bring out a savory, salty depth of flavor!

The highlight: octopus bibimbap
And now the highlight! Octopus bibimbap :) Pile in crunchy bean sprouts, plenty of octopus and sauce, then mix it all together!

The result: a smoky, char-scented bibimbap ^^
The crunch of the bean sprouts meeting the smoky octopus felt like a completely different dish. By the time you finish this, you're genuinely, thoroughly full.

Gorgonzola pizza included in the set
Pizza is also part of the set menu — you can choose gorgonzola or pepperoni. We picked gorgonzola so the kids could eat it too.
It's not flashy or intense in flavor — more of a mild, casual style that's easy to eat with kids. The set portions are so generous that a lot of people end up taking the pizza home in a box hahaha.
What the self-serve bar offers
There's a self-serve bar with a variety of soda drinks! You can also help yourself to as many side dishes as you want :)
Free coffee and dessert after the meal

At the end, you can grab takeout coffee — one for each person at the table!

Take your coffee to the building next door and you can sit down and relax a little more, with snacks provided too.

Instead of leaving right after the octopus, we got to rest a bit with the kids, take in a pretty night view, and finish off with dessert — such an easy family outing course.❤️

And if you join the review event, you even get ice cream! This place just keeps the service coming until you're stuffed ^^
