Butcher-shop hanwoo restaurant in Yuseong, Daejeon: Worang Myeongga
In short
Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch is a butcher-shop-style hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant in Bongmyeong-dong, Yuseong, Daejeon, where diners choose their own cuts at the meat counter. Two adults and one toddler visited, grilled two platters of assorted hanwoo picked at the counter, and paid a table charge of 4,000 won per person, 8,000 won in total. Choosing cuts by eye and helping yourself to vegetables and fruit at the self-serve corner made Worang Myeongga an easy choice for a family meal with a small child.

This time I visited Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon. You pick the hanwoo (Korean beef) you want straight from the butcher counter, then it's grilled tableside as your meal, so you can choose exactly the cuts you want. I didn't even think twice this time — went straight for the assorted platter.

How ordering works: pick your hanwoo at the butcher counter, grill it at the table
Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch is a hanwoo specialty restaurant where you choose your meat at the butcher counter and grill it right there. Worang Myeongga states it uses 30–40 month, 1++ grade female hanwoo.
Walking in, the tables were spaced generously and there were quite a lot of seats. It looked good for family meals as well as larger groups.

What stood out most this time was being able to pick the meat directly at the butcher counter. Seeing the cuts with your own eyes and choosing them gives you the feeling of really selecting what you're about to eat.

The assorted hanwoo we chose had visible marbling just from looking at it, and once we put one platter on the grill, the smell of grilling beef started spreading...(♡)
Two platters of assorted hanwoo, with side dishes like a Korean set meal (hanjeongsik)
What we ate at Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch this time was two platters of assorted hanwoo. At first I figured one platter would do, but once we started grilling, the meat just kept going in.

Today it was our family (2 adults, 2 toddlers) visiting. In the end we ate two platters of assorted hanwoo...! (guess I have to work hard, haha) We finished one platter and, feeling a bit wanting, ordered another — since the assorted platter has a variety of cuts, we never got tired of it even by the end.
We put the meat on the grill, cooked it just right, and ate it piece by piece — even in the photos you can see the juices rising.

The side dishes served alongside were neat and delicious, just like at a hanjeongsik restaurant. (The stew in particular was excellent.)
Vegetables and pineapple grilled alongside the hanwoo
At Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch, instead of grilling nothing but meat the whole time, we also put the provided vegetables on the grill. Grilling mushrooms and peppers along with the meat made for good bites in between, and we tried grilling pineapple too.

The pineapple in particular, lightly grilled on the plate, turned warm and sweet, and it was great to eat between bites of meat.
What is at the self-serve vegetable and fruit corner?
Inside Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch there was a self-serve corner where you could take vegetables and fruit. Beyond the basics like lettuce and peppers, there was also fruit, vegetables, and mushrooms, so we took as much as we needed.

Going to a BBQ restaurant with a kid usually means making sure you get vegetables and fruit for them too, not just meat — this time it was convenient being able to grab what we needed ourselves.
Is Worang Myeongga easy with a toddler?
Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch has tables set apart from each other and the space itself is fairly large, so it suited family visits or larger groups eating together well.

The side dishes were especially tasty — the steamed egg in particular was good for our toddler to eat.

Since you pick the meat directly at the butcher counter, it's a good fit for anyone who wants to decide their own portion size and mix of cuts. If you want to try a bit of several different cuts, going with an assorted platter like we did is a good option too.
