Sadang Station blind date bar: perilla cappellini & highballs at
In short
Dophan is a wine-and-highball restaurant-bar on the 2nd floor near Sadang Station in Seocho, Seoul. On a second visit the writer ordered gutjeori (fresh-tossed) perilla oil cappellini, mac and cheese fries, beer and a grapefruit Earl Grey highball, with a complimentary appetizer served right after sitting down. It's a solid pick for blind dates or wedding-invite meetups where conversation matters more than noise.

Why it's hard to pick a blind date spot in Sadang
Sadang wine bar / Sadang atmospheric bar / Sadang Station work dinner bar
If you're looking for a good blind date restaurant in Sadang, picking a place isn't easy. Since it's a first meeting, the food has to be decent, but more than anything, the atmosphere for comfortable conversation matters, right?! Somewhere too loud makes it hard to talk, but somewhere too dressed-up feels a bit much for a first meeting too.
In that sense, Dophan, the Sadang restaurant I visited this time, is one I can recommend!
This actually wasn't my first visit to Dophan. I went once before with friends, and I remembered the food coming out clean and tasting good, so when I had plans in Sadang this time, I decided to go back!
Menu and interior atmosphere

Revisiting Dophan, I was reminded how good both the food and the atmosphere are. Looks like Suzy visited too — unlike last time, there was a signed autograph on the wall?!
Honestly, when picking a blind date spot, you can't decide on taste alone. You end up thinking about whether it's easy to talk, whether it's too loud, whether the mood feels awkward — and Dophan felt low-pressure on all those fronts. What stuck with me most was seeing several tables that clearly looked like blind dates when I visited,,, which is proof enough that it's a well-known blind date spot haha.

At first I thought it might just be a coincidence, but seeing several tables with a similar vibe made me think it's well known as a Sadang blind date spot. It also looked great as a wedding-invite meetup spot! I liked that there was a bar table in addition to regular tables!

What we ordered for two people
The menu has just the right amount of ambiance, and the space doesn't feel like a lot of pressure for eating with someone you're meeting for the first time — that felt like a real advantage!
This time I picked out several dishes. We ordered gutjeori perilla oil cappellini, mac and cheese fries, beer, and a grapefruit Earl Grey highball. It'd been a while since a Sadang date with my boyfriend, and it felt so warm and fuzzy!
If it's your first time at Dophan, choosing might be tricky — but out of what we tried this time, I'd recommend the gutjeori perilla oil cappellini!

They also have plenty of wine options, so it'd be great for drinking wine on an anniversary too!
Food review

As soon as you sit down, they bring out an appetizer like this, and it really whets your appetite — so happy,, pure luxury ㅠㅠㅠ

Gutjeori perilla oil cappellini
The gutjeori (fresh-tossed greens) perilla oil cappellini we ordered at Dophan. Even the name is a little different from typical pasta, so it stuck in my memory from the first bite. The distinctly nutty flavor of perilla oil paired with the gutjeori worked better than I expected?! I liked it so much I told my boyfriend we should try making it at home.
You just eat it with the noodles, gutjeori, and meat together.

Instead of being heavy or rich like a cream pasta, it was clean and nutty overall, so it was easy to eat without feeling weighed down. Especially with the gutjeori mixed in, it added little bursts of freshness in between, keeping the nutty perilla flavor from getting monotonous no matter how much you ate. It's the kind of dish that's great to eat slowly with a beer or highball, so I think it'd work well for dinner with friends, and also for dates haha.

Mac and cheese fries
We also ordered mac and cheese fries — fries and cheese together, so of course it paired well as a beer snack! Nutty yet salty, easy to pick at casually, and ordering it alongside the cappellini made the menu more varied haha. If the cappellini is on the cleaner, nuttier side, the mac and cheese fries are a bit richer and saltier, so alternating between the two worked surprisingly well!

With two people, ordering one main and one side to share was just the right amount!

Beer and grapefruit Earl Grey highball
Along with the food we ordered beer and a grapefruit Earl Grey highball — Dophan has a wide range of drink options from wine to highballs to beer, so I think everyone would find something they like! My boyfriend had the beer while I picked the grapefruit Earl Grey highball, and it went nicely alongside the food.
Personally, for a blind date or first date, I think it's good to have lighter drink options rather than anything too heavy, and in that sense this was totally on point.
What kind of occasion suits it
You know those days when just eating a meal and leaving feels a bit lacking, but a full-on drinking session feels like too much? That's exactly when choosing Dophan near Sadang Station is perfect.
Recommended for anyone looking for a blind date spot in Sadang, or a good-atmosphere date spot or wedding-invite meetup place near Sadang Station. When a too-formal atmosphere feels like pressure and an ordinary bar feels lacking, if you want a place with good atmosphere, easy conversation, and clean food all together, Dophan seems like a solid choice!
It was also a great spot for a relaxed dinner and a drink with a friend, so I think I'll go back next time I have plans in Sadang haha. If you're looking for a Sadang wedding-invite meetup or blind date restaurant, I highly recommend Dophan 👍🏻
