Choosing a bar to eat at in Guro Digital Complex after work, it really comes down to the food and the price of drinks. I stopped by Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch, right at the entrance of the Guro food alley, and had a round of chicken skin fry with spicy odeng (fish cake) soup.

Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch is at 7 Digital-ro 32na-gil, 1st floor, Unit 101, Guro-gu, Seoul, in the food alley near Guro Digital Complex Station. It's open 14:00–02:00 on weekdays and Sundays, and 14:00–04:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Soju and beer are ₩4,000, and there's a separate 'beer of the month' discount that changes every month. Pizza and chicken are also available for takeout.

It's a two-story bar tucked between a grilled-pork-belly place and a jokbal (pig's trotters) joint in the food alley near Guro Digital Complex Station. The stylish sign makes it stand out from a distance at night.

I got there around 8:30pm on a Friday, and there were even people waiting outside the entrance — busy enough to be one of the better-performing bars in Guro.

Beer of the month and the before-7pm discount

The two banners at the entrance of Monthly Beer are really the core of this place. One is for the beer of the month — when I visited in August, it was Budweiser ALU 355ml, down from ₩7,500 to ₩3,900. The other is a ₩7,000 discount for entering before 7pm (alcohol excluded).

If you come early, you basically get one dish almost half off, so going late for round two like we did feels a bit of a waste.

Open until 2am on weekdays and Sundays, and 4am on Fridays and Saturdays — worth remembering if you're hunting for a late-night bar near Guro Digital Complex Station.

What's on the menu, and what does it cost?

The menu is split into eight categories: pizza/pasta, chicken, fried dishes, stir-fries, soups, dry snacks, bingsu, and snacks. Handmade pepperoni pizza is ₩17,900, crispy fried chicken ₩21,900, crispy dried pollack ₩16,900, and monthly nachos ₩10,900 (prices subject to change).

What the two-story interior feels like

Step inside and the mood completely changes. Red lighting, neon signs, and a row of draft beer taps lining the bar in the back — it feels more like a pub than a typical hof (beer hall).

Being Friday night, almost every table was full, mostly groups of office workers.

High ceilings and a spacious hall mean it doesn't feel cramped even when it's loud. With tables mostly seating 2–4, it's more of a place to come with company than to drink solo.

Red walls with a MONTHLY BEER HOUSE neon sign — a nice spot for anyone who likes taking photos.

There's a sign on the wall that reads something like, 'The place you think of who to bring after you finish eating.' The interior borrows that old-school Euljiro tavern vibe.

The draft beer taps along the bar. Non-alcoholic Terra Zero bottled beer is also available at ₩4,000, which works for designated drivers or anyone bringing a pregnant friend along.

Once seated, you order via tablet, and a basic side of puffed rice snack comes out. We ordered chicken skin fry, spicy odeng soup, and a bottle of Jinro soju.

Fried chicken skin: the right call with a cold beer

Monthly Beer's chicken skin fry smells savory the moment it arrives. The outside is as crisp as a cracker, but there's a chewy texture underneath once you bite in — the kind of snack that just keeps the beer coming.

The portion is just right for two people paired with the odeng soup. A side salad comes with it too, which cuts through the richness.

The spicy odeng (fish cake) soup arrives in a bucket-style pot, still on its own stove, so it stays hot until the very end.

The broth lives up to its name — spicy. Dried chili peppers give it a sharp kick, and it goes really well with soju, making it a great round-two dish after something greasy earlier in the night.

The restrooms are inside the venue, separated for men and women, with clear signage.

Does Monthly Beer work for groups and company dinners?

Monthly Beer Guro Digital Complex Station Branch has a spacious hall and stays open until dawn, so it seems like a solid spot for group get-togethers or round-two company dinners in Guro. This alley is packed with restaurants and bars, so the natural flow of grabbing grilled meat or jokbal first and moving here for round two works well. It opens at 2pm, so daytime drinking is possible too.
