Today I visited Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch, a well-known spot in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan. The building is a swanky standalone structure that's genuinely huge, and the parking lot is wide and spacious, so parking was really easy. Let me share my honest review of the set menu I tried myself 😎

A standalone building with a wide free parking lot
Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch is a standalone building with a swanky design, and I immediately felt like I'd be eating in a great atmosphere.
Parking matters when you go to a restaurant, and there was a big, wide lot right in front, so parking was really convenient 🅿️
Outside there was also a resting area with parasols and benches. Smoking is not allowed there!
At the entrance, there were celebrity autographs displayed on the wall. You know it's a good restaurant when there are celebrity signatures, right?
Inside the restaurant: dining areas, private room and self-serve corner
The inside of Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch was spacious, split into two hall areas, and the vibe was quite upscale and clean ✨
There was also a separate private room, which would be perfect for group gatherings.
Even though I visited a bit past lunchtime, the hall was still packed with customers.
The standard tables seat four and are big and roomy, so I could eat comfortably.
The lighting was warm and soft, giving off a cozy, snug feeling 💡
There was also a self-serve corner on one side of the restaurant, so I could grab extra side dishes as needed.

Every table at Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch has a kiosk, so I could browse the menu and order comfortably.
The 17,000 won stir-fry, hot pot rice and shrimp tempura set

The basic side dishes were cabbage salad, cold cucumber soup, radish salad to mix in with the octopus stir-fry, seasoned bean sprouts, and lettuce.
A big bowl for mixing the octopus stir-fry came along with it too.
I loved that the set came with hot pot rice (sotbap) instead of plain steamed rice.
You scoop the well-cooked rice out of the hot pot into a bowl and eat it that way!
You can also pour hot water from the kettle into the leftover rice in the pot to make scorched rice tea (sungnyung) — two birds with one stone. Be careful, it's very hot!
How spicy is the medium-spice jjukkumi stir-fry?
I ordered the octopus stir-fry set for two, and it was generously packed with plump webfoot octopus. The spice level at medium was just right 🐙
I mixed the hot pot rice, octopus stir-fry, and a bunch of vegetables all together in one go. It was seriously insane... this Yuryang-dong, Cheonan spot is legit.
Has webfoot octopus quality gotten this good lately? I don't think I've ever had octopus stir-fry with such plump octopus as at Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch.
Taking a bite with rice, the texture of the plump octopus and the rice together was really delicious. Carbs and protein gone crazy..😱
How big is the shrimp tempura in the set?
The set comes with two pieces of shrimp tempura. I was surprised the shrimp were even bigger than they looked in photos 🫢
Is this even shrimp or is it eel? Hahaha. It must have been fried in clean oil because it was really crispy, and packed full of shrimp meat inside.
The combo of octopus stir-fry and shrimp tempura, spicy with savory, worked surprisingly well together. I want to eat it again...
The set menu let me enjoy octopus stir-fry, hot pot rice, and shrimp tempura all together, and I ate it all up, thoroughly satisfied. Eating in such a clean, upscale atmosphere made the whole meal comfortable, and above all, the staff were really kind. This Yuryang-dong, Cheonan spot is legit!!
