Kalguksu with baby chair near Korean Folk Village: Yubok Kalguksu

In short

Yubok Kalguksu Yongin Korean Folk Village Branch is a pufferfish-broth kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant that opened two months ago in Bora-dong, Gyeonggi. Visiting on a weekday at 1pm with a baby, there was no wait for the Yubok Kalguksu Jjukkumi Set, and self-bar kimchi plus yuja radish salad went great mixed into barley rice with charcoal-grilled jjukkumi (webfoot octopus). With a baby chair, baby spoon, a separated group room, and parking right outside, it's an easy family meal stop.

With the weather cooling down, if you're planning a family trip to Korean Folk Village this fall, here's a good restaurant recommendation for eating with your kid ⭐️ Yubok Kalguksu is a Bora-dong, Yongin spot that's only been open for two months — a fresh find. Sharing my honest review after visiting in person 🥄👍

CatchTable waitlist registration

You can register on CatchTable near the store entrance, but visiting on a weekday at 1pm meant I didn't even need to wait.

Near the entrance there were old-style Korean snacks and a coffee machine, great for dessert after the meal — and it was using Starbucks coffee beans!

How was it with a baby and for a group meal

⭐️Recommended for group family meals⭐️

I liked that there was a separated group space when I visited — book ahead and you can probably get a private area for your meal! The whole place had a clean, comfortable vibe, with quiet music playing during the meal, so it felt calm rather than noisy. (My baby seemed comfortable too and slept well.)

Yubok Kalguksu has baby chairs ready in-store, so I'd recommend it as a good spot to eat with a baby in Yongin!

Self-bar side dishes

The self-bar has extra side dishes — domestic kimchi and yuja radish salad — plus baby spoons! These days I always check whether the kimchi at a restaurant is Chinese-made first, but at Yubok Kalguksu Yongin Korean Folk Village Branch you get delicious house-made kimchi!

The refreshing, deep-flavored pufferfish broth is sold to take home too. Seems great to use as a base when cooking at home.

Ordering the Yubok Kalguksu Jjukkumi Set

Yubok Kalguksu felt like a place made with real care — house-made noodles pulled and aged in-house, house-made kimchi, geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), and yuja radish salad. Order the signature Yubok Kalguksu Jjukkumi Set and you get kalguksu alongside charcoal-grilled jjukkumi (webfoot octopus). For dinner there's also a hot-plate jjukkumi dish, great with a drink.

Signature meal set 🥄

What I liked most about the Yubok Kalguksu set was getting to eat noodle soup and jjukkumi together. It's available for takeout too, so if eating in-store isn't an option, you could take it home. As a parent, I really appreciate restaurants where good food is available to go~

The kimchi and radish salad went so well with the kalguksu that I added extra from the self-bar haha

Barley rice (extra plain rice available on request)

Mixing the charcoal-grilled jjukkumi stir-fry into barley rice was 👍 The spice level was moderate, and the bean sprouts mixed into the barley rice really well.

Obok Kalguksu

They use same-day fresh seafood — live short-necked clams delivered daily, oysters from Tongyeong, and plenty of ear shells packed in. This might be the best kalguksu I've had recently.

Why I'd want to bring my parents next time

I visited with my baby this time, but one thought kept coming to mind while eating: "I should bring my parents next time." It was easy to visit with a baby, but the menu itself is also easy on parents' tastes, making it a solid family dinner spot. Kalguksu isn't a polarizing dish, and being able to enjoy jjukkumi stir-fry alongside it means there's good variety even for an adults-only visit.

If you're planning a weekend outing near Korean Folk Village, it's worth scoping out a meal spot ahead of time. I loved the set menu that lets you enjoy kalguksu and jjukkumi together, and finishing the meal off with coffee made the whole visit feel complete. If you're looking for a place to eat with family near Korean Folk Village, or a restaurant you can bring a baby to, Yubok Kalguksu Yongin Korean Folk Village Branch is worth a stop. Next time I'd love to come back with my parents and try other menu items ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
