Suji shabu-shabu set for 3 with unlimited makgeolli: Dongchundang
In short
Dongchundang Shabu Shabu Kalguksu Sinbong Oesik Town Branch is a shabu-shabu and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) restaurant in the Sinbong Oesik Town dining complex in Sinbong-dong, Suji-gu, Yongin. A family of three arrived at 6:20 p.m. on a weekend and ordered the tofu sandwich shabu kalguksu set for 3 at 42,000 won, added mushrooms and minari (water dropwort) for 6,000 won, and used the unlimited makgeolli (rice wine) tap and the self-serve bar. The mild signature broth, mugwort noodles and closing fried rice made a full course, and the large parking lot and free dessert drinks made Dongchundang an easy family dinner.

Today I'm introducing~~ a shabu-shabu spot in Suji, Yongin: Dongchundang Shabu Shabu Kalguksu Sinbong Oesik Town Branch.
Where is Dongchundang in Sinbong-dong, Yongin, and when is it open?
Dongchundang Shabu Shabu Kalguksu Sinbong Oesik Town Branch is at 336 Sinbong 1-ro, 1st floor, Suji-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do. Hours are Tue–Sun 10:00–21:00, Mon 10:00–15:00.

The first thing I noticed after arriving was how huge the parking lot is. Even new drivers shouldn't worry about coming here.

Free snacks and drinks at the entrance: puffed rice, black sesame soy milk, cordyceps tea
We arrived at Dongchundang Sinbong Oesik Town Branch around 6:20pm. Alright~ let's go in. Right from the entrance there are all kinds of snacks and drinks.
There are 4 kinds of puffed rice snacks, black sesame soy milk, and cordyceps tea. Perfect to enjoy after the meal.

Ah! For those of you who need coffee, don't be disappointed thinking there's none. Once you walk in, look to the right — it's there.

Go in like this and it's on the right side.
Inside Dongchundang: dining room, baby chairs and kiosk ordering
First off, the hall is bright and spacious 😃

There's a waiting area for when it's busy, and baby chairs too. You sit down and order via kiosk.

What we ordered: tofu sandwich shabu kalguksu set for 3, 42,000 won
We ordered the tofu sandwich shabu kalguksu set for 3 (₩42,000), added mushrooms + minari (₩6,000), and a cider (₩2,000) 😁

The spoon and chopstick set came soaking in warm water, and they gave us two bottles of water too. It felt like they cared about even the small details.

How the unlimited makgeolli and self-serve bar work
After ordering, I wandered around a bit to check out the self-serve bar~~ and noticed they even give a discount for takeout.

And then,,, oh!!!! 🤩 the makgeolli is unlimited!!! Isn't that amazing??!! What is this, in this era of high prices?!
There's even a pitcher so you can scoop some and enjoy it comfortably haha. My husband had to drive so only I drank... I just poured a little.
I tried a glass first — it had a bit of fizz and a slight tang, and it was delicious~ Unlimited refills but great taste too,,,, 😋

There's also a self-serve bar right in the middle of the hall like this.

Side plates, extra spoon and chopstick sets, scissors, tongs, and wet wipes are here.

There's extra broth, wasabi and various sauces, cheongyang chili (for the special soy sauce), spicy seasoning paste, and extra kimchi. My second son loved the kimchi and ate it well.

Dongchundang's signature broth and the vegetable platter
Alright~~ here it comes.

The meat looks pretty in color too, doesn't it?! And the pre-meal yeolmu (young radish) bibimbap was surprisingly good~
Bubbling away~~~~ looks so delicious. We chose the signature broth, which was mild and tasty. It can get saltier as you go, so start mild at first!

Enoki mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, chives, bean sprouts, minari, dumplings,, lots of different vegetables.

They say adding cheongyang chili to the special soy sauce is delicious, so I made the sauce first. Now let's dip it in! I also prepared my favorite shabusuki sauce alongside!

My husband and son said it was delicious and ate really well. As we ate, it hit past 7pm and lots of families started coming in~
Finishing the course with mugwort kalguksu noodles and fried rice
After finishing the shabu-shabu meat and vegetables, in go the noodles!! The mugwort kalguksu noodles had a pretty color. Eating the noodles with kimchi was just right. Alright~~ next up, fried rice~
For the fried rice, they let it sit a bit longer after frying, and once it starts to smell slightly toasted, you turn off the heat and eat. The fried rice was the perfect finish to the very end~~~~ I wanted to take a photo of the completely emptied pot but it felt too embarrassing since it was so bare haha, so I didn't,, but really, the three of us cleared it completely~~ 😄 We ate so well and left~♡ On the way out, of course we had to grab dessert too?

The black sesame soy milk was delicious, and the cordyceps tea felt like it cleansed the palate nicely too. My son tried the puffed rice snacks too^^ Ah! For parking, they say if you mention it they'll register your car. And the staff were all so kind too, so we left feeling great after the meal^^
Is Dongchundang worth it for a family dinner in Yongin?
By the time we finished eating and left, it had already gotten dark. The days have gotten much shorter. Somehow the scorching summer has passed and autumn has arrived. Nice weather, perfect temperature — a lovely autumn~~
Today, sharing a delicious meal with my family at Dongchundang Shabu Kalguksu, a shabu-shabu spot in Sinbong-dong, Suji, recharged both body and mind! I'll use this energy to power through the next week too♡
