Yongin sundaeguk restaurant with pyeonyuk platter: Yetnal Gyeongseong

In short

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Gorim Branch is a Korean restaurant specialising in sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) and pyeonyuk (sliced boiled pork) on Hanteo-ro in Cheoin-gu, Yongin. After dropping their baby at daycare, the writer and her husband ordered one bowl of sundaeguk (₩11,000) and a small pyeonyuk platter (₩19,000) with bottles of cheongha rice wine — the pyeonyuk alone was enough for two, and broth came with it as standard. Clean broth with no gamey smell and big pieces of blood sausage make Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk a place worth becoming a regular at.

My husband and I dropped our baby off at daycare and got a craving for sundaeguk, so we ended up at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Gorim Branch! We'd been a few times before and it's genuinely delicious — no funky smell at all, just clean flavor. So I thought I'd introduce it: a sundaeguk restaurant worth knowing about in Cheoin-gu.

Parking and waiting at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk: Catch Table even at weekday lunch

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Gorim Branch has a pretty big parking lot, but it's almost always full. You sign in on a Catch Table at the entrance, and there's a wait even on weekday lunches.

The building's exterior is huge, right? Haha. The building itself is spotless! The parking lot is quite big too, but so many people come here — I guess because it's genuinely a great restaurant — that it's almost always full haha.

There's a Catch Table sign-in at the entrance, and yes — there's a wait even on weekday lunches!

Inside the restaurant, and is it okay with a baby?

Inside Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Gorim Branch, the tables are spaced comfortably, aprons are provided as standard, and there are high chairs too, so going with a baby was fine. After the meal they even have coffee and sikhye ready, along with mouthwash, hair ties, and a phone charger.

The inside is super clean too, and the distance between tables felt just right — I never felt cramped.

I really think the owner has great instincts — free coffee and sikhye after the meal are a given, but mouthwash, hair ties, even a phone charger? That's some serious preparation. They also sell barley candy separately, and it's delicious haha. Good as dessert here or to bring home, and it wasn't rock hard at all.

They bring the side dishes out for you the first time, and after that it's self-serve refills.

Aprons are standard and there are high chairs too!! Fine to bring a baby along.

Also, every table has a little grinder set up so you can grind your own sesame seeds. You can grind sesame and mix it right in.

Menu and prices: sundaeguk ₩11,000, small pyeonyuk ₩19,000

The menu at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Gorim Branch has plenty besides sundaeguk. We ordered one bowl of sundaeguk (₩11,000) and a small pyeonyuk (boiled pork platter) (₩19,000).

The menu has plenty besides sundaeguk! We ordered one bowl of sundaeguk (₩11,000) and a small pyeonyuk (₩19,000). First time trying pyeonyuk here... I was kind of excited, haha.

On the table were cheongyang chili peppers, salted shrimp, chili paste, salt, perilla seeds, pepper, and more, all set out ready to go.

The default side dishes that come out! Refills are self-serve!

How much sundae is in the sundaeguk?

The sundaeguk at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Gorim Branch has 4–5 big chunks of blood sausage plus plenty of meat. The broth has no funky smell and comes out piping hot — it makes you go 'wow' every time you take a bite.

The sundaeguk arrived and the amount of stuff inside made me go 'wow' with every spoonful haha. So hot and steaming, the filling is amazing. The sausage is huge too, right??? There were like 4 or 5 of these giant sausages in there haha. If you're looking for a great gukbap (soup with rice) spot in Cheoin-gu, definitely come here — lots of meat, lots of sausage.

The ₩19,000 small pyeonyuk platter: portion and what comes with it

The small pyeonyuk is ₩19,000 and comes with liver, lung, and blood sausage, plus chives, and broth is included as standard. The portion was enough to fill up the two of us with just this one dish.

And this is the small pyeonyuk...!! The portion was seriously huge, honestly haha. Just the two of us ordering this one dish would leave us completely full!

We were worried there wouldn't be any broth so we separately ordered a sundaeguk too, but they just gave us broth as standard anyway. Total steal — ₩19,000 for this massive amount plus broth on top! I wonder if the owner is even making anything off this.

Wow, the portion was huge and there was so much variety too. Liver, lung, blood sausage, and chives all together — dipping the chives in ssamjang (thick soybean-chili paste) with it was incredibly good! Even just the ssamjang alone was tasty!! It was way too much for just my husband and me to finish, honestly ㅠㅠ haha. And with the gukbap on top of it... maybe next time we need to bring one more person along haha.

Day drinking too: one bottle of cheongha each

At Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Gorim Branch, we polished off a bottle of cheongha (rice wine) each with the pyeonyuk as our side dish. The staff were also really kind — it's the kind of place I'd want to bring friends to.

With food this good as a side dish, we couldn't skip the drinks, so we each finished a bottle of cheongha haha. Daytime drinking for the first time in a while~~ I should bring my friends here when they visit. And the staff here are really kind too!

My husband and I usually come here in the evenings and just get gukbap, but trying the pyeonyuk this time — the portion was way too generous and totally satisfying. The gukbap goes without saying, right? We're kind of regulars haha.

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk has suddenly opened a bunch of branches and I wondered what made it so good — but now I get it. It's a flavor worth going out of your way for!! If you can't handle sundaeguk because of the funky smell, this place has absolutely none of that. Pure, clean flavor.
