In short

Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch is a raw fish (sashimi) restaurant a 3-minute walk from Yeonsu Station Exit 1, on the third floor of Yeonsu Plaza in Incheon. A couple ordered a mini raw shrimp sashimi and a single serving of flounder sashimi, enjoyed tender in-season raw shrimp and moist flounder, then were shocked when their ₩8,000 fish bone soup arrived in a pot big enough for 3–4 people. With a generous self-serve bar of dessert ice cream and coffee, it's a recommended, wallet-friendly sashimi spot in Yeonsu-dong.

Today's review. My husband and I live in Yeonsu-dong, and after a weekend spent café-hopping around the neighborhood, we got hungry. So where did we go!? To this place packed with fresh, varied sashimi, just a 3-minute walk from Yeonsu Station — Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch. It's about the time of year when the fish start putting on fat, so we had to enjoy it. Let's go!

How close is it to Yeonsu Station?

It's about a 3-minute walk from Yeonsu Station Exit 1! Incredibly close.

Today's restaurant, Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch, is on the 3rd floor of Yeonsu Plaza. In we go.

The atmosphere and seating

The place is long and wide, laid out in a single stretch. Most seats are for four, and there are a ton of them! Perfect for company dinners or group gatherings.

It's not just one continuous stretch — there are sections divided off here and there, which gives it a bit more of a private feel.

We were shown to our seats and sat down!

What's on the tablet menu?

Every table has an ordering tablet! Let's try ordering with it :3

What's at the self-serve bar?

After ordering, let's check out the self-serve bar! They actually have dessert ice cream; talk about generous.

Dessert coffee too!

And here's the amazing part… you can even make your own kimchi pancake! Great for a group to fry up their own kimchi pancakes together.

And the self-serve bar itself! A variety of items neatly and tidily arranged. Some things aren't served at the table, so be sure to use the self-serve bar!

Side dishes and the flounder sashimi (1 person)

The first thing to arrive was warm seaweed soup! Warm seaweed soup pairs so well with cold sashimi :3

A variety of side dishes came out too — mini mulhoe, quail eggs, aged white kimchi, wasabi and sauce, and garlic pollack roe. All three go great alongside sashimi! This was actually my first time at a place that serves pollack roe, and it was salty and delicious.

The very first dish out was the flounder sashimi (1 person). Is this really a single serving..? The portion looks huge at a glance..!

So springy, so tender and moist. The color and sheen are gorgeous.

A single serving plate of springy flounder sashimi

Whether dipped in soy sauce, chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), or eaten with pollack roe, this flounder sashimi is delicious every single way! What, why is this place this good…? We came in with low expectations and got completely surprised…

How was the in-season raw shrimp sashimi?

Next, the one I was most looking forward to — springy, in-season raw shrimp sashimi! So neat and beautiful… lined up so tidy and pretty…

The raw shrimp sashimi is unbelievably delicious too… truly fresh raw shrimp with a springy, slightly chewy texture… now that it's the season, the sweetness really comes through… and of course, no fishy taste at all!

On top of that, grilled mackerel pike came out last! No way… what a service item ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Nicely browned, well-cooked mackerel pike. Excellent…

Such a… perfect photo… whew, I'm still drooling just looking at it…

Table spread with flounder sashimi and raw shrimp sashimi together

Everyone, be sure to order the flounder sashimi and the raw shrimp sashimi. Both are seriously, ridiculously delicious…

Plate of crisply grilled shrimp heads

This was my first time trying grilled shrimp heads, and they're totally sweet, crunchy, and nutty..! What a treat.

What I liked most today was the raw shrimp sashimi! Seriously… so happy to eat it in fall… springy raw shrimp dipped straight into chojang, or soaked in soy sauce — delicious either way! This really is an amazing raw shrimp spot in Incheon…

₩8,000 fish bone soup — how big is it, really?

Feeling like we shouldn't stop there, we also ordered the fish bone soup! Since it was only ₩8,000, I expected it in a small stone bowl, but it came out in a pot big enough for 3–4 people. Great taste and huge portions — Veteran General Fish Market Yeonsu Branch really is a generous, wallet-friendly sashimi restaurant near Yeonsu Station.

Bubbling away, cooked to perfection. The longer you simmer fish bone soup, the deeper the flavor gets.

But even though it's called fish bone soup, they loaded it up with plenty of meaty chunks… The flounder and raw shrimp sashimi had already won me over, but this fish bone soup sealed the deal completely haha… genuinely delicious. Eating soup at the end left me feeling warm inside, like a proper hangover cure.

We even walked out holding the essential closing ice cream. A truly delicious meal today at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch.
