I'd been craving sashimi nonstop lately and finally couldn't resist anymore, so I went. A lot of people ask about sashimi restaurants around Yeonsu-dong and Yeonsu Station, so hopefully today's review helps.

Where is Veteran General Fish Market near Yeonsu Station?

It's located at 106 Beotkkotro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, on the 3rd floor of Yeonsu Plaza. The sign out front is huge, so there was no chance of getting lost.

The first thing I saw walking in was the open kitchen area, which gave me a surprising sense of trust — you can see everything from the prep work onward. The staff were especially friendly with directions, so I got to sit down feeling good. The self-bar was also kept cleaner than I expected.

One fun quirk here is that you get to grill your own buchimgae (savory pancake) — pretty entertaining! There's a separate vegetable self-bar too. You can help yourself to as much garlic, cheongyang chili peppers, lettuce, perilla leaves, sauces, and kimchi as you want.

Crispy on the outside, and paired with pickled cabbage and lettuce, it was genuinely delicious.

How thick is the 35,000-won small flounder sashimi plate?

Finally, the main event — the flounder sashimi I ordered 😆😊😆. The small size cost ₩35,000, and the thickly sliced flesh came out beautifully arranged with flower decorations, plus the portion wasn't bad for the price. Sashimi obviously calls for soju, so I dipped into a glass of Chamisul too.

It's genuinely delicious.

I have a secret recipe: wrap sashimi in a perilla leaf with plenty of chojang (vinegared chili sauce), then brush on some sesame oil — it's a flavor that makes you instantly want another shot of soju, haha.

The grilled saury that came with it was surprisingly good too. Nicely salted and grilled, it worked well both as a side dish and as a drinking snack, and the quail eggs and soup side dishes served as sukiadashi (small starter dishes) were also generous.

Spicy maeuntang with unlimited ramen noodle refills

I ordered the maeuntang separately for ₩8,000, and the broth was properly spicy and rich. But the really great part was something else — the ramen noodle refills are unlimited! When the broth tastes this good, it's only natural to want to add more noodles, and being able to keep adding without hesitation felt like a really smart choice on my part. Even though I was already full, I finished off the ramen broth completely.

There was also a review event sign inside the restaurant — apparently if you leave a review, they give you things like abalone, black dried persimmon, or fried bread shrimp. Looking back at the building sign on my way out at night, I noticed a big display for salt-grilled king prawns too, so I figured I'd have to try that next time.

Free coffee and ice cream to finish the meal

After eating my fill, I poured myself a cup of coffee at the self-serve coffee corner. There was a sign that specifically said "This is a table for coffee drinkers," which showed the dessert area was clearly separated. The ice cream was also self-serve, so my hand naturally reached for it even though I was already full.

Even the dessert was perfect. From thick flounder sashimi to unlimited-ramen maeuntang, the self-serve side bar, and dessert — Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch delivered a full, satisfying meal. The value for the price is great, so I especially recommend it to anyone looking for a good-value sashimi meal. Parking is available inside the building too, so it's no burden if you're driving. Next time I visit, I definitely want to order the salt-grilled king prawns I missed this time.
