During a weekend trip to Gangneung, we stopped in Yangyang and visited Cafe Dunchi with the children. It was a place where we could have drinks while looking out at the Namdaecheon River and also ride an electric boat. Our family explored the café and the neighboring ecological park, with the boat experience as the focus.

I could see the Namdaecheon River and distant mountains through the windows. Each window felt like a framed view, and the scenery varied a little from seat to seat, which made choosing a spot enjoyable.

How did we use the electric boat with the children?

The electric boat ride was what our family had looked forward to most. After checking the fee information, we took photos in front of the boat, and the children boarded one after another. They were excited from the moment they put on their life jackets.

How long could we ride the boat?

There was a timer inside the boat. We pressed it ourselves before setting off and had to return within 30 minutes. We talked with the children about when to head back and enjoyed it like a mission.

What did the children enjoy on the boat?

Because it used an electric motor, it did not feel fast. My child pretended to drive while holding the wheel, then later looked out at the surrounding scenery.

It was quiet on the Sunday afternoon we visited, so we could take in the Namdaecheon River at a relaxed pace. Fish occasionally leapt above the water, and watching them was enjoyable as well.

Can you comfortably drink café beverages on the boat?

There were cup holders inside the boat for drinks, and Bluetooth connection was also available.

I admired the scenery while drinking the strawberry latte we had brought from the café. It was convenient to have a place to set down the cup, and we spent time listening to music through Bluetooth.

Where did we go with the children after the boat ride?

Namdaecheon Ecological Park was beside the café. We rested while having snacks on the long swing between the café and the park, then headed into the park.

The children played on the trampoline and swings. It was good for a walk, and there was plenty of room for children to run around, making it a nice stop after the boat ride.

On this visit, we spent half a day looking at the Namdaecheon River from the café, riding the electric boat, and playing in the park. What stayed with me was being able to combine a break over drinks with an outdoor activity for the children in one place.
