Fruit cake café in Haeundae, Busan: peach cake at Sijeunikeu
In short
Sijeunikeu at Shinsegae Department Store Centum City is a fruit cake shop in Haeundae, Busan, right by Centum City Station. I chose its peach cake for my grandfather’s birthday, and the abundant peaches and soft 100% animal-based cream were a hit with the whole family. Verdict: a lovely choice for a fruit-filled cake on a special day.

Seasonal fruit cakes right at Centum City Station
Sijeunikeu (시즈니크), a cake favorite you can find as soon as you arrive at Centum City Station. The fruit changes every time I visit, so I always wonder, what delicious cakes will there be today? This season’s fruits are mango and peach!

I think the secrets behind Sijeunikeu cakes’ popularity are their generous use of fresh fruit, the appeal of seasonal fruit, soft cream that never feels heavy, and their excellent accessibility!
Sijeunikeu uses generous amounts of fresh fruit

Sijeunikeu cuts down on the cake layers and piles on fresh fruit without holding back, getting both the look and the texture just right. Among all the products around Centum City Station, Sijeunikeu’s cakes really caught my eye as standout cakes.

The mangoes, ripened for 170 hours, were absolutely packed in there—inside the cake layers too—and they looked so delicious! Just what you would expect from a great cake spot by Centum City Station! Get off the subway and walk straight into the department store; take the escalator up and keep going until you see Starbucks. Sijeunikeu is right beside Starbucks.

A peach cake chosen for my grandfather’s birthday
And then there is the peach cake, available only this season! Sijeunikeu’s 100% animal-based cream brings out the fruit’s own sweetness, and the soft cake layers work so beautifully with the peaches. I was so excited for this combination! So this time, my pick was the peach cake!

Honestly, we usually buy cakes to celebrate someone’s special day, right? That is why I think how one looks is so important. This time, I was deciding on a cake to celebrate the birthday of my grandfather, the eldest member of our family.

That is why I considered it so, so carefully before choosing Sijeunikeu! I picked the cake feeling half worried and half excited—would Grandpa like it? But the moment we took it out, he loved it so, so much!

First of all, the look was a total pass. Grandpa loved it so much that I was so happy too. And the really great part was that when we ate it, there was barely any cake layer—it was honestly more than half peaches. The peaches inside had a texture as if they had been lightly preserved with sugar, and they went so well with the cream. Delicious!

You know how you only put in one birthday candle so they do not feel sad about having too many candles, right? Grandpa got the peach with the special gold decoration. Grandpa, wishing you a long, healthy, and happy life~~

Grandpa was happy, so we were all so happy too! The cake was so soft that Grandpa really loved it, and the family all ate it very happily!

A cross-section packed with peaches instead of cake
A cross-section shot of the cake. You could barely see the cake layers inside. It was packed, packed with peaches—to the point that the cake was hardly visible?! Sijeunikeu really is a great cake spot by Centum City Station! It is hard to find a cake shop in Haeundae that piles on this much fruit, and it definitely has the presence of a top Haeundae cake shop.

Wrapping the thinly sliced peaches in cream like this before eating them made me completely happy! Ah, this is it—this is the joy of eating cake, isn’t it?! If you are looking for a cake so generously filled with fruit that you might think you bought fruit instead, or a cake made with 100% animal-based cream that never feels heavy and stays delicious to the last bite, I totally recommend Sijeunikeu by Centum City Station! What fruit will be next season’s? I am already so excited. For a cake to celebrate a precious day, I recommend making it complete with Sijeunikeu!
