Mapo Korean BBQ restaurant with free hangover ramen: Jeongyukdo

In short

Jeongyukdo is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, serving both Korean pork and Hanwoo beef. I had the ₩49,000 pork set with bibim naengmyeon and the review-event hangover ramen in its camping-style private room. Verdict: Jeongyukdo is a great pick for a hearty BBQ meal and a group gathering.

A detached-house Korean BBQ restaurant with a camping vibe near Hapjeong Station

I followed the map app here and it led me to this grand (?) building.

I was like, “But there isn't a BBQ restaurant here?” Then I turned the corner and found this detached-house BBQ spot absolutely radiating grand-mansion vibes.

The campsite feel is amazing, right? It felt like having a barbecue party in the big yard of a private pension house... The weather is getting warmer these days too, so I think it would be so much fun to grab an outdoor table and hang out with friends ㅠㅠ

Once you go inside, the walls are covered in countless signatures. I honestly couldn't even gauge how popular this place must be...

Seeing the machine pour icy draft beer, I promised myself I absolutely had to order a beer later.

The entrance itself is on the narrow side, but wow—the farther in you go, the more seating just keeps appearing. Other than a few hall tables near the entrance, it is all private-room-style seating, so I thought it would be perfect for a company dinner or group gathering!

We were assigned an inner private room too, and there were coat hangers and aprons by the door, making it easy to put away our outerwear haha. The hangers seemed deliberately placed far from the table so our clothes would not pick up the meat smell, and that thoughtful touch made me happy 😍

Once you sit down, they bring each person a neatly arranged tray and banchan (Korean side dishes)!

The table was lined with sauces to enjoy with the meat, including salt and wasabi.

Here is the menu! Jeongyukdo offers a variety of meats, from 1++ Hanwoo beef to Korean pork, which is probably why so many people come here. They even have grade certificates, so I could eat with confidence >.< There are plenty of lunch and side options too, making this a great place for a full meal haha.

The hangover ramen is apparently a free side dish when you write a review!! I mean, giving us something this precious?

Since we ordered hangover ramen, we needed an excuse to order beer.

Generous serving of the Korean pork set

A generous Korean pork set with fresh ribs, pork belly, and pork neck

The Korean pork set looks killer, right... It comes with fresh ribs, pork belly, and flower-cut pork neck, and it is the kind of spread that would make anyone who loves thick-cut meat cheer. The selection is substantial, and they give you a generous amount too.

Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is included with the Korean pork set too! There was meat in the stew as well, so I came home having eaten all the meat I could possibly want hahaha.

Doesn't it look so delicious ㅠㅠㅠㅠ The grill is larger than the flame and fixed in place, so there is no worry about it moving. Best of all, you can set cooked pieces to the side, then move them back toward the middle to warm them up, so it was incredibly easy to eat.

The juices were no joke, so it was great to enjoy it simply with salt and wasabi... The mushrooms were seriously delicious too. The meat itself was such good quality—no off smell and not tough at all—that it just kept disappearing, you know?

Bibim naengmyeon and bean-sprout hangover ramen together

And please, definitely order the bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) ㅠㅠ We finished it in three minutes. It was so delicious wrapped around the meat—I can't even explain how good it was.

The hangover ramen really cleared me out too, with bean sprouts in it and everything—it genuinely felt like hangover food hahaha.

The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, and the staff were kind, so if you are heading near Hapjeong Station for a meal, please make sure to visit Jeongyukdo (정육도) 👍
