Mapo burger restaurant for crispy shrimp: Bored & Hungry

You know those days when you suddenly want a burger so badly? Not just any ordinary burger, but a proper, thick handmade burger, haha. This time, I visited Bored & Hungry Mapo near Daeheung Station.

I’d been curious about this place for a while because the burgers looked seriously good, and I finally got to try it. The menu I chose that day was the Shrimp O.G!

I also ordered Butter Garlic Fries as a side. To give you the conclusion first—wow... this combo is delicious, haha. If you like shrimp burgers, I think you’ll really like the Shrimp O.G.

Bored & Hungry Mapo near Daeheung Station

It’s an easy walk from Daeheung Station, so it seemed like a great stop if you’re looking for somewhere good to eat around the station. The surrounding atmosphere is nice too, so on a lovely day, it would be nice to eat and take a walk nearby afterward.

When I stepped inside, the whole place felt casual and hip! It has that very current vibe, and it really put me in the mood for handmade burgers, haha.

It honestly felt like I’d walked into a shop abroad!! I think that’s another part of the fun, haha.

And just in case you can’t tell where the water is!!! This is where you get drinking water, over by the self-service corner! There are water cups behind it too!

They also had Bored & Hungry stickers set out like this, so you could take one freely! Thought you might like to know, haha.

This time, I ordered the Shrimp O.G and Butter Garlic Fries. As soon as the food came out, I loved the look of it.

The burger was really quite big, and the shrimp patty definitely had presence! It looked even more appetizing in person than it did in photos. A handmade burger has to fill one hand like this for it to feel properly satisfying to eat, haha.

If you love shrimp burgers, I recommend the Shrimp O.G!

Finally, a bite of the Shrimp O.G! Wow... the texture of the shrimp patty was so, so good. It was fried crispy on the outside, while the inside was moist with that distinctive plump, springy shrimp texture.

Sometimes with shrimp burgers, the coating is too thick or the sauce is so strong that the shrimp flavor gets buried, right? But here, the shrimp patty itself really stood out.

The first bite gives you that crisp texture, then the bouncy shrimp texture comes through afterward! It’s subtly so delicious, haha. With the soft bun, vegetables, and sauce all coming together, it was easy to eat without feeling overly heavy. The shrimp patty was especially thick, so with every bite I thought, “Ah, this is a proper shrimp burger,” haha.

Butter Garlic Fries for the side!

And a burger alone feels a little incomplete, right? So I ordered Butter Garlic Fries as a side too. It’s a combination that couldn’t possibly taste bad just from the name, haha. Butter and garlic... if you love fries, you simply can’t pass that up.

The butter-garlic flavor on the fries made them feel clearly different from fries with just salt. They were rich and salty, with a subtle garlic aroma that kept me reaching for more. One bite of Shrimp O.G, one Butter Garlic Fry, then another bite of burger, haha.

This pairing worked surprisingly well. If you keep eating only the burger, the flavor can start to feel a little one-note, but having fries in between changed up the texture and made everything taste even better.

The unusual Salt&Pepper shake

And finally, I had the Salt&Pepper shake. Honestly, the name alone is a little shocking, right? Haha. Wow, but the flavors really work together somehow... Why is this so good?!? It’s truly unusual, but delicious, haha.

Since I’d come to a handmade burger place anyway, I went for a drink that was unusual, interesting, and tasty too :)
