Gukgojip near Exit 4 of Yangjae Station
I heard there was a delicious Korean BBQ place near Yangjae Station, so I went to check it out!

Honestly, I don't think I could ever get tired of eating meat every day 😂

The restaurant operates on the basement level and first floor, and the basement is larger, so it would be great for company dinners or group gatherings too!! Only the first floor was open when I went. There are aprons hanging at every table, so you can just grab one comfortably without having to ask~

Beef galbisal and the complimentary side dishes
Time to study the menu!! 👀 We first ordered three servings of beef galbisal, chilled barley chogye noodles, and steamed rice! There are set menus too, so keep those in mind when ordering~

Once you order, they set out all the basic sides~ There was such a variety: salt, ssamjang (savory dipping paste), meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), and wasabi for the meat, plus green onion kimchi, aged kimchi, pickled garlic, lettuce, and individual portions of pickled onions!

Here are our three servings of beef galbisal~ Doesn't the meat look amazing?!!

Let's get it grilling~ haha

High heat, so grill it carefully
Lay it on nicely and keep flipping it~ 🔥 The heat is no joke! Can't you practically hear that sizzling through the photo? Haha
It burns if you're even a little late, so keep a close eye on it while grilling! Move the cooked pieces straight to the edge~ It turned out beautifully, so let's eat!

The classic way is with a little salt!! So, so good!!! The doneness was perfect too~

I tried it with the pickled onions and wrapped some in lettuce too~ And once you're eating, you can't leave out drinks, right? A light glass of makgeolli each!! 😉

Complimentary kongbiji-jjigae and chilled barley chogye noodles
Most Korean BBQ places serve doenjang-jjigae, but this place brings out kongbiji-jjigae (soy pulp stew) as the complimentary stew~ It comes in a tasting-size portion, so it's easy to enjoy without feeling too full, and you can order more from the add-on menu if you need it! It was nice to spoon up now and then while eating the meat~
Looking at the photos makes me want to eat it again,,,

The chilled barley chogye noodles are here~ The noodles felt a bit chewier than regular naengmyeon! The broth is lightly seasoned, so it's good as is, or you can add vinegar and mustard to suit your taste. Top a bite with chicken too~ It's perfect for ending the meal on a cool note after the meat! As always, mul-naengmyeon is the best 👍🏻

The boneless marinated galbi I was even more excited for
Actually, I was even more excited for the marinated pork galbi! We were full, so we ordered just one serving, but look at that portion?! And I liked it even more because it was all meat with no bones 😍

Getting deliciously grilled~🤤
There are times when you just really crave pork galbi, aren't there?! The marinade burns more quickly, so if all the meat is cooked and you won't be grilling anything else, ask them to remove the heat right away! Ahh, so refreshing once the heat was gone,,, now you can take your time eating it.

I dug in properly again!! So this was actually a great pork galbi spot!!! Looking around, every other table was definitely ordering the marinated galbi too! And that green onion kimchi is the key. It goes insanely well with the meat!!!

After eating until I was stuffed and paying, I turned around and there was a coffee machine right there!! I really love yulmu-cha (job's tears tea)!! They happened to have it, so I got one right away~ I made sure to enjoy dessert too before leaving 😍
It filled up quickly once it got to dinner time! No wonder it's such a popular spot near Yangjae Station~
I really, really recommend Gukgojip (국고집) to anyone looking for a great restaurant around Yangjae Station or Dogok-dong! It's a perfect fit for a company dinner or family meal too~ The staff are incredibly kind!
