I went to Irojeong Gumi Geumosan Direct Branch, a new place in Sangmo, Gumi 😊 I'd been to the Miryang branch of Irojeong before and remembered it being really good, so I decided to check out the Gumi location too.
Where is Irojeong Gumi Geumosan, and how is the parking?
Irojeong Gumi Geumosan Direct Branch is at 32 Bakjeonghui-ro, Gumi, Gyeongbuk, and there's a big parking lot right in front of the restaurant. It fits over 60 cars, so parking was no hassle at all :)

I timed my visit for the weekend opening, and there were already quite a few people eating. Guess that's how you know a place is popular haha.
The interior is roughly divided into three areas: one side has a more private-feeling table section, the middle is open seating, and the other side has separate rooms you can use. Great if you're visiting with family or want a bit more privacy while eating.
Kids' play room and high chairs at Irojeong
There's a separate play room for kids tucked inside the restaurant. Having a space like this is a surprisingly big plus when you're visiting with children.

Self-serve bar and the waiting area that doubles as a café
There's a self-serve bar in the middle of the restaurant 👍 If you run low on the basic side dishes, you can just grab more, and there's even shine muscat grapes on offer.
Irojeong Gumi Geumosan Direct Branch also has a waiting area that doubles as a café inside. Nice for resting before or after your meal, and it makes waiting around much more comfortable if there's a line.
There's an ice cup station, a water dispenser, instant coffee, and drinks ranging from barley gangjeong to sipjeondaebo tea, sujeonggwa and sweet pumpkin sikhye, so you can pick whatever suits your taste :)

Ordering was easy with the tablet at each table. I could take my time browsing the menu and then order right away, which was convenient.

Even the basic table setting came out pretty generous — salad, kimchi of course, but also japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), fried items and onsuyuk (steamed pork).
I tried a bit of everything, and each side dish was well seasoned and really tasty. With the main dish and all the accompaniments packed in, the overall value felt really good.
The onsuyuk had a good thickness and looked appetizing. It's tasty on its own, but eating it with the side dishes brought out a different flavor too.
The potato pancake we added to the order
We also tried the potato pancake we ordered extra — crispy outside, chewy inside, so good! It's light enough to pair well with the loach soup, and it's the kind of thing you keep reaching for without feeling guilty haha.
Why we chose grilled imyeonsu (Atka mackerel) over mackerel
I went back and forth between mackerel and imyeonsu (Atka mackerel), and this time went with imyeonsu. It was thick, light, and moist — much tastier than I expected~😋
Sanghwang mushroom loach soup with turmeric rice — what my parents thought
The sanghwang mushroom loach soup we'd been waiting for finally arrived 😆 Even at a glance, the broth looked rich and thick.
The rice comes as turmeric rice. Made with turmeric for a subtle aroma and color, it went well with the loach soup without feeling heavy.
My parents took a sip and said the broth was rich and delicious, and ate it up happily. Even saying they were pretty full, they kept eating until the end, and it made me weirdly proud 🤭
After the meal we finished off with gangjeong and sweet pumpkin sikhye for dessert. Getting to enjoy everything down to the last bite made for a satisfying end to the meal.
Is Irojeong Gumi Geumosan worth it for a family meal?
Overall the food was clean-tasting, and everything from the side dishes to the main dish was delicious. If you're looking for a place for a family meal, or just want a hearty, tasty meal, I'd recommend Irojeong Gumi Geumosan Direct Branch 👍
