Korean barbecue restaurant in Suyeong, Busan: Donbegi family rooms

In short

Donbegi Gwang-an Branch is a two-story Korean barbecue restaurant in Millak-dong, Suyeong, Busan. I visited with my family for my father’s birthday, ate French rack and pork neck in a private room, and appreciated having the meat grilled for us. The quiet room and memorable cold kalguksu made it a comfortable family meal.

For my father’s birthday, I went to Donbegi Gwang-an Branch (돈베기 광안점) with my family. My father had suggested a simple celebration at home, but we were able to eat barbecue quietly in a private room, which made it a good fit for a family meal.

How far is it from Gwangan Station, and is parking available?

It is about a 15–20-minute walk from Exit 3 of Gwangan Station. There was a parking lot across from the restaurant, and free parking for two hours was available at the time of my visit, which was convenient.

Are there private rooms for a quiet family meal?

The exterior had the calm feel of a wooden building. From the entrance, I could already get a sense of the dining atmosphere.

The interior is spread over two floors. The first floor has an open layout and group tables, so it looked suitable for larger gatherings. Sparkling lights lined the way upstairs.

The second floor has cozy private-room-style spaces, as well as a small terrace-like area. We ate in a room, where it was easy for our family to talk quietly over the meal.

What meat did we order, and how much was corkage?

There was a wide range of meat and meal options. We started with 600 g total of French rack and pork neck.

What came with the side dishes and self-service bar?

The basic side dishes were neatly arranged, and I noticed that myeongran (seasoned pollock roe) was included. We also had a clear, mildly spicy bean sprout soup. The self-service bar had side dishes such as lettuce that were not part of the initial table setting.

Do you need to grill the meat yourself?

The thickness of the meat stood out as soon as it arrived. A staff member grilled it from start to finish, so we could eat comfortably. They also kindly explained each cut and how to enjoy it.

For the first bite, I dipped it lightly in salt, then had it with mushroom wasabi. The meat was juicy and tender, and the mushroom wasabi added more savory depth.

The green onions and mushrooms grilled alongside the meat were nicely browned and tasty too. We ordered extra vegetables to have more.

How were the cold kalguksu and doenjang-jjigae with the meat?

For the meal, we had naeng kalguksu (cold knife-cut noodle soup) and doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew). The stew had a savory broth with thick pieces of meat, which were chewy yet tender.

It was my first time trying cold kalguksu, and it was especially memorable. Its ice-cold broth was refreshing and pleasantly spicy, cutting through the richness after the meat. The noodles were chewy and springy too.

What did we enjoy about the family meal, and was there a wait?

My parents were pleased with the meal as well. For us, the quiet room, kind service, and staff grilling the meat were particularly comfortable. The restaurant was also introduced as pet-friendly in the original post.

When we left after eating, a long line had formed outside. What I liked most about this family meal was being able to talk comfortably in the private room while we ate.
