Suyeong Korean restaurant eel pot rice: Solsot Gwangalli
In short
Solsot Gwangalli is a Korean restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, serving individual pot rice dishes and yuringi. We had freshwater eel pot rice, sea bream and scallop pot rice, and yuringi on a weekday afternoon, finishing with crispy nurungji. Verdict: the eel pot rice with wasabi is absolutely worth returning for.

I had the day off today, so I made a long-overdue trip to Gwangalli haha. I was wondering what to have for lunch, and since Solsot is so famous, I finally went this time!! I wanted to come during the Gwangalli Drone Light Show, but I didn't have time, so I came on a weekday instead haha.
Solsot Gwangalli location and reservations
The address is 78 Gwangnam-ro, 1st floor, Suyeong-gu, Busan. It's close to Exit 1 of Geumnyeonsan Station on Line 2—313 m away, about a five-minute walk!
Solsot stands out with its red sign

We made a reservation before going! I hear there can be a lot of waiting on weekends, so check the wait list before you go ✨
We visited at about 4:30 p.m. on a weekday, and it was nice because there was no one there hehe. If you hate crowds and waiting, just avoid lunch and dinner hours!!

For the two of us, this is what we ordered ~~
- Freshwater eel pot rice
- Sea bream and scallop pot rice
- Yuringi (crispy chicken with tangy sauce)
Order complete 🤤🤤

Leave a receipt review and make sure you get a drink or yuringi ⭐️⭐️⭐️
While waiting for our food, I looked at the fish haha.

I think we waited about 10 minutes? I was sooo excited.. 🤤
Ahh, the moment we opened the lids, we both kept saying, “Wow, that looks so good” ;;

Doesn't it look incredible!! Top-tier eel among all the eel I've had ㅜ
This is the sea bream and scallop pot rice!!

This is going to be the most perfect lunch, right...? It was my first meal of the day, so I was super hungry ㅠㅠ I'll dig in right away.

Oh, and the yuringi came out right after that haha.

Could anything be more perfect than this ㅜ The second I took a bite, I went, “Wow, this is delicious”;;;
How to eat the eel and sea bream scallop pot rice
Here's Solsot's own way to eat the eel pot rice! First, without mixing it, scoop it up properly with your spoon and eat it as it is. Leave about two spoonfuls, then pour in the broth.
Now for how to eat the sea bream and scallop pot rice~! Mix it up and transfer all of it into your bowl haha. Then there’s nurungji (crispy scorched rice) right beside it, you know? Add three spoonfuls, pour in the broth, and cover it with the lid 🤩

The pot rice was so good that I had briefly forgotten about the yuringi, but I tried it right away!! It had chili peppers in it, so I wondered if it would be really spicy 🤔, but it isn't spicy haha. I don't think you need to worry. It was sweet and tangy and delicious 🤩

If you order the sea bream and scallop pot rice, it also comes with gim (roasted seaweed). Dip it in the special soy sauce—ohhh, it is so tasty 🤭

I ate the eel pot rice the classic way. The wasabi combination was number one for my taste buds! I had about two spoonfuls left, so let's pour in the broth~!

The nurungji was insanely good haha. You know scraping up the bits stuck to the pot is the best part, right haha.

I scraped up the sea bream and scallop pot rice too, and for the final nurungji, this one wins by a landslide!

We ate so well haha. Return-visit intention: 100 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It felt like I had a real, proper rice meal for the first time in a while hahahaha. If you want a filling, properly satisfying meal, I highly recommend Solsot Gwangalli (솔솥 광안리점), a Gwangalli favorite 🤩🩷 After you eat, Gwangalli Beach is only a two-minute walk away, so go for a light stroll too 😊
