Sisters' sashimi night with fish stew freebie at Yeongjae Susan
In short
Yeongjae Susan is a fixed-price sashimi shop on the 1st floor of Garak Mall's sales building in Songpa, Seoul. Two sisters packed a small seasonal sea bass, flounder and red seabream platter (₩65,000) for a home drinking night, and staff threw in fish stew ingredients for free. Between the cold-bag packing and the easy basement parking route, it was a satisfying Garak Market sashimi takeaway.

My sisters and I had lunch near the seafood market and decided to stay over at my younger sister's place for the night. In the evening, my older sister suggested a simple drink, so we picked sashimi as our snack. My younger sister had packed sashimi from Yeongjae Susan a few times before and raved about how fresh it was, so we headed straight there.
Let me walk you through our trip to Yeongjae Susan, a genuinely great fresh seafood spot in Garak Market.
Parking and directions to Yeongjae Susan

Yeongjae Susan is located at Unit C-10 (133), 1st floor of Garak Mall's sales building. We drove, and honestly the route from parking to the store was super convenient. Park at South Gate 1 parking lot, basement level 3 (B3), near pillar E09, then head to the E10 zone entrance

and the escalator right there takes you straight up to the 1st floor shop. If you're coming by public transport, Garak Market Station Exit 2 gets you there in no time!
The fixed-price menu board and the fish tanks

As soon as we arrived, the neatly written fixed-price menu board was the first thing that caught my eye.

Being able to see all the prices clearly laid out and choose from them was such a relief.

The tanks were also spotlessly maintained, and everything inside — live shrimp jumping around, seasonal gizzard shad, king crab, conger eel, flounder, and various shellfish — looked flawlessly fresh.
The ₩65,000 seasonal sea bass, flounder and red seabream small platter

What I ordered this time was the seasonal sea bass, flounder and red seabream small platter (₩65,000)! It's a really solid combo where you get to taste three premium large fish species — sea bass, flounder, and red seabream — all rich with fat, in one go.
Free fish stew ingredients and the cold-bag packaging

On top of that, a staff member kindly asked first whether we'd like the fish stew ingredients packed too, and of course I said yes! Getting that thrown in for free made me so happy!
When we asked for it to be packed, they put everything together with real care in a sturdy navy cold bag stamped with the store's logo. Thanks to that, the freshness stayed at its peak the whole way home.

Make sure to grab the parking discount voucher (up to ₩1,000) at checkout, and before heading to your car, pay in advance at the unmanned payment kiosk near the elevator.
The sashimi restaurant-style course we set up at home

Along with the main assorted sashimi we brought home, there were also fish stew ingredients, a bean sprout pack, and a full lineup of sauces — vinegar-chili sauce, soy sauce, wasabi, ssamjang — plus pickled radish and pickled ginger. The whole spread was seriously packed.

The moment we opened the pack, the assorted sashimi revealed itself in all its fresh glory.
Sea bass, flounder, and red seabream. All species our sisters love, sliced thick, so the chew was seriously amazing.

Picking up a big piece with chopsticks alongside the radish sprouts, you could really feel its heft.

First, I dipped a piece just lightly in the sharp wasabi soy sauce and took a bite. The chewy yet clean flavor of the sashimi itself spread all through my mouth.

Then I dunked it generously in the sweet-and-sour vinegar-chili sauce. The glossy, fatty belly part especially got more savory the more you chewed it. Paired with the ssamjang and pickled radish that came along, it never got tiring — we just kept eating and eating.

Once we polished off the sashimi, boiling a spicy fish stew was an absolute must! We dumped the fresh fish bones that came in a bag along with the bean sprout pack straight into a pot,

then mixed in the spicy seasoning sauce and let it simmer away. Maybe because it was loaded with bean sprouts, the broth turned out incredibly refreshing yet spicy — genuinely art. Finishing off the slightly greasy feeling from the sashimi with this fiery broth made for a perfect meal. It was such a hearty, satisfying time — honestly nothing to envy about a real sashimi restaurant!
