It's only Tuesday but it feels like Thursday already. Maybe it's because the weather's gotten nicer, but I really did not want to go to work.
Today I'm bringing you a review of Dongchuwon Bulgogi, a restaurant in Hagik-dong, Incheon, that my family has gone to for gatherings for years now. These days, even for Lunar New Year or Chuseok, more and more families eat out instead of cooking everything at home like in the old days! It's a great spot for exactly that kind of holiday family gathering. Let's get into this Blue Ribbon-listed restaurant, Dongchuwon Bulgogi (╹ڡ╹ )

Exterior and interior atmosphere
Exterior

You can tell it's a good restaurant just from the outside, right?

Blue Ribbon-selected for 5 years running! A genuinely good restaurant that's even appeared on the TV show Tasty Guys. There's also an event running where you get a jjinran (premium grade) egg if you sign up for notifications!
Interior

The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and it's a pretty large space. Between the size and the crowd-pleasing menu, it's already known as a great spot for family gatherings. And there are even more tables beyond what I photographed here.

Private room and meal kits
Private rooms can also be booked separately (6 to 28 people).

They also sell Dongchuwon Bulgogi meal kits, including LA galbi. Worth noting! Oh, so they're kind of a master at this haha.
What I ordered — the old-style bulgogi set

The signature dishes are Korean beef bulgogi, old-style bulgogi, and Korean beef bosin gukbap (beef soup)! Old-style bulgogi is usually the most ordered, and that's what I went with too. Dongchuwon Bulgogi does the Seoul-style version with a good amount of broth. Order the set and you get bulgogi (with vegetables), morning bread rolls, and naengmyeon (cold noodles) all included! Nothing else to add on.
There's also a separate kids' menu, so it looked like a good place to bring children too ❛ ᴗ ❛.
Honest review of Dongchuwon Bulgogi in Hagik-dong

The basic side dishes come out like this. You might wonder why a bulgogi place serves morning bread rolls, but I'll show you the bulgogi burger later. It's amazing.
The old-style bulgogi set

The bulgogi set has arrived, ahh.

The bulgogi comes piled up like a mountain, with tons of vegetables too — sweet pumpkin, bok choy, and more.
They put the bulgogi on top of the dome, and there's broth around the edges where you cook the vegetables. Once the bulgogi is cooked enough, it finishes cooking at the edges, and they keep adding fresh bulgogi on top.

Let me try a bite with the vegetables. It's really got a good amount of broth and is savory-salty — so delicious. It's a meal you can eat heartily without feeling weighed down.

The seasoning isn't overdone, so your mouth doesn't end up too salty — it's just right. Definitely a restaurant that's dedicated its whole life to bulgogi. There's also a good variety of vegetables, so it never gets boring. These days, 90% of restaurant food is so intense and spicy, so it was nice to eat something gentle on the stomach for once.

Making a bulgogi burger with the morning bread
Now I'm going to make a bulgogi burger!

Open up the morning bread roll like this and add the salad.

Add the bulgogi and pickled namul (seasoned vegetables). Top with cheese and spread the sauce generously.

Close the bread on top and the real bulgogi burger is complete! It might look a bit rough around the edges, but it's genuinely delicious. Since I'm a bread lover, this was the best part for me.

Dessert naengmyeon and a palate cleanser
When it's time for dessert, just order the dessert naengmyeon (set-only) at the kiosk.

The mustard and vinegar are provided hygienically in individual portions.

It's tasty and comes in a generous portion, so I don't think you'd even need to order more meat (❁´◡`❁) So full,, so full,,,

They also gave us omija tea (five-flavor berry tea) for a nice palate cleanser. There's even ice cream on your way out! Might be better to eat that one outside. From the meal to dessert, everything's taken care of in one visit. It's been a while since I've eaten out somewhere that felt like home cooking, and I left feeling full and happy,,,
How it was as a spot for family gatherings and group dinners
It had been quite a while since I last visited Dongchuwon Bulgogi in Hagik-dong! The staff were as kind as always and the food was just as delicious as ever, so I got to have a really happy meal with my family (╹ڡ╹ )
If I had to describe Dongchuwon Bulgogi, it's a warm restaurant where you can eat a hearty meal that feels like home cooking.
If you're planning a group dinner or looking for a family gathering restaurant in Hagik-dong, Incheon, I recommend Dongchuwon Bulgogi! ◡̈⋆*
