Steki over gyukatsu at Hurato Sikdang, an Isu Station beef restaurant

In short

Hurato Sikdang Isu Branch is a Japanese-style beef restaurant within walking distance of Isu Station in Dongjak, Seoul. Ordering gyukatsu (Japanese beef cutlet) and steki (Japanese-style beef steak) side by side, the tender steki at Hurato Sikdang made the stronger impression of the two. The spacious, clean dining room makes Hurato Sikdang Isu Branch an easy lunch or dinner near Isu Station.

Here's my review of a delicious Japanese-style beef meal I had near Isu Station!

This time I visited Hurato Sikdang (후라토식당) Isu branch. It's usually well known for its gyukatsu, so I'd been curious about it, and I finally stopped by for lunch while I was around Isu Station. To cut to the chase — the steki was so good that I think I'll be ordering steki again next time! 🥹❤️

First, the location! Hurato Sikdang Isu branch isn't hard to walk to from Isu Station. However, when I visited, Exit 9 was under construction and unusable. So I came out through Exit 10 and walked over, which took about 5 minutes.

The route isn't complicated — just come out Exit 10 and walk slowly, and you'll find it quickly. 😊 If you're planning to use Exit 9 when you visit, it might be worth checking whether construction is still going on!

Inside Hurato Sikdang: a spacious, clean dining room

The first thing I noticed walking into Hurato Sikdang Isu branch was, "It's bigger than I expected!" You might picture Japanese restaurants as cozy but somewhat cramped spaces, but this place had a pretty spacious interior. On top of that, the overall atmosphere was clean and tidy, which made it a pleasant place to eat.

The spacing between tables felt less cramped too, so I could sit comfortably and eat. It also seemed like a good spot to visit with friends or a partner for a relaxed meal.

What we ordered at Hurato Sikdang: gyukatsu and steki

That day we ordered two dishes — gyukatsu + steki! You can't talk about Hurato Sikdang without mentioning gyukatsu, so we got one of those, and I was also curious about the steki so I ordered one of those too. 😋 Both are beef dishes and seemed like they'd be similar, but once I actually tried them, the textures felt quite different.

How the steki tasted

Tender-textured steki meat

The dish I enjoyed most at Hurato Sikdang Isu branch was the steki. It was genuinely delicious…🥹 Above all, the meat was so tender.

With the first bite, there was no chewy toughness at all — it was soft, and you could really taste the flavor of the meat itself, which was so satisfying. I'm someone who really values a tender texture when eating meat, and this steki was exactly my type.

It was delicious with the sauce, and just as delicious eaten plain, so I kept reaching for more. I honestly lost count of how many times I thought to myself, "Ah… I need to order steki again next time I come!" haha 🤭

Gyukatsu or steki: which one to order?

We also tried the gyukatsu we ordered alongside it. I liked the classic gyukatsu combo of a crispy outside and moist inside. But personally, comparing the two, I felt the gyukatsu was a bit less tender than the steki.

Enjoying gyukatsu and steki together

Of course the gyukatsu was plenty tasty too, but eating both side by side, the steki's tender texture stuck with me more. So if I go back to Hurato Sikdang again? I don't think I'll even hesitate — I'll order the steki again! 🥩❤️ If you're someone who loves tender meat like me, I'd definitely recommend trying the steki.

Is Hurato Sikdang worth it for a meal near Isu Station?

This was my first visit to Hurato Sikdang Isu branch, and overall the space was spacious and clean, making it comfortable to eat in — and above all, I was so satisfied because the steki was genuinely delicious. It's widely known as a gyukatsu restaurant, but I'm sure there are others like me who'll find the tender steki even more to their taste than the gyukatsu. 🫶🏻

If you're looking for a lunch or dinner spot near Isu Station, it seems like a solid choice for a hearty beef meal in a clean setting. If I visit again, I'll definitely be ordering the steki I enjoyed so much this time. 🤎

Gyukatsu is great, but if you love tender meat, I recommend the steki at Hurato Sikdang! 🥩✨
