Beer and pizza after work at an Isu pizza bar: garlic dip, Raymond

I enjoyed some pizza and beer after work. Raymond Isu Branch just opened near Isu Station.

Raymond Isu Branch, 3 minutes from Exit 9 of Isu Station: first impressions

I'd wanted to come check out the sign since before it even opened, and I finally made it here. The facade really has that American vibe haha, with those red stripes catching your eye.

I walked in with high expectations. The triangular pizza boxes on display immediately caught my attention.

More than half the seats were filled, and the crowd was pretty diverse, ranging from couples to groups of middle-aged guys.

They were promoting American-style pizza and award-winning craft beer heavily even from outside, so I really wanted to try the beer.

Ordering at Raymond Isu Branch is done through a tablet (T-order) — though the paper menu is easier to read. The beers seem to change a bit each time, and there were more than 6 kinds.

*Sampler (Vienna Lager, Sour, IPA, Witbier, Peanut Butter - 5 kinds) There's a 5-beer sampler and I was tempted, but in the end I ordered a Belgian witbier and a blueberry sour ale, one each.

Five pizza slices and truffle fries instead of a set

The pizza choice was tricky too — if you order the Raymond Set, you get 4 pizza slices along with sides like fries and chicken. But we ordered separately instead: five kinds of slice pizza and truffle fries.

The beers came out first, followed by the pizza.

It was a pretty huge size that filled the whole table, and the crust was thin like New York-style pizza (looks great folded in half).

But instead, I elegantly dipped it into my favorite garlic dipping sauce with a fork and knife.

What does the blueberry sour ale taste like?

Personally I'm the type who likes a foamy beer, the classic 'ajussi beer' kind, but the blueberry beer had less foam than I expected. Probably because of the fruit extract or something haha. Thanks to that, it had a bright, tart flavor with the crisp, refreshing character typical of ales really standing out. It was tastier than I thought, so I slightly regret not ordering the sampler.

I didn't realize ketchup, pickles, and garlic dipping sauce come as standard, so I ordered garlic dipping sauce as an extra — but honestly, that worked out even better.

A sauce that makes the pizza taste 1.5 times better ♡
