Today I visited Sadang Gwanganri Sadang Main Branch, a great spot for a get-together near Sadang Station! I'd been craving raw shrimp so badly for this meetup that I went searching and found this place 🦐

Cutting to the chase — I fell hard for the crunchy texture of the raw shrimp, and the beef sashimi that came with it was delicious too.👏👏👏

What is Sadang Gwanganri like inside? Closer to a pocha than a sashimi restaurant

Sadang Gwanganri is a raw fish restaurant and bar near Sadang Station, but it's decorated more like a pocha (Korean street-style tent bar) than a typical raw fish place, so it felt great for drinks with friends and also looked perfect for a company dinner or group gathering.

There were quite a few tables inside, but it seems to be popular enough that there's also a CatchTable waitlist sign-up set up outside.

Looking at the menu, it seems they sell amberjack in summer and greater amberjack in winter 🐟 Since you can enjoy seasonal raw fish depending on the time of year, this feels like a great Sadang Station raw fish restaurant to visit in both summer and winter.

What we ordered and what it cost: Yukban Saengsae 65,000 won, raw shrimp mix 32,000 won

Here's what we ordered: 🦐 Yukban Saengsae (raw shrimp and beef sashimi platter) ₩65,000 🦐 Gwanganri raw shrimp mix ₩32,000!

The Yukban Saengsae finally arrived ✨ Isn't the plating so cute? Haha, they even put a heart-shaped shrimp on top — such a funny, cute touch 🤍

Beef sashimi and raw shrimp came together, along with minari (water celery), seaweed, and various sauces to mix and match — I loved that you could enjoy it so many different ways.

So our group raised the raw shrimp for a toast 🦐🍶 and took a bite… and wow…

How does the raw shrimp at Sadang Gwanganri taste and feel?

The raw shrimp at Sadang Gwanganri really had that distinctive crunchy texture and fresh flavor alive.🤍🤍 If you love raw shrimp, you know this texture, right? That snappy little pop in your mouth, then chewy and crunchy at the same time! It was so fresh and so delicious.

You can't have a dish like this without ordering soju, right? Haha. We ended up ordering some, and it came out slushy and frozen — another moment of amazement! The ice-cold soju paired surprisingly well with the raw shrimp.

Gwanganri raw shrimp mix: piled with flying fish roe

The Gwanganri raw shrimp mix! Flying fish roe is piled on top of the raw shrimp — and I mean piled, to the point where I wondered if it was okay to add this much haha. The crunchy texture of the raw shrimp combined with the popping burst of the flying fish roe made for such a fun bite.

True to its name, Yukban Saengsae lets you enjoy both raw shrimp and beef sashimi together, so it feels perfect for a group wanting to try a variety of dishes at once.🤤❤️ If you're looking for a place to have drinks with friends near Sadang Station, or a spot for a work dinner or group gathering, the relaxed pocha atmosphere makes it easy to visit without pressure.

And this day was a little more special for us. We'd met in the same alley in Sadang not long ago to celebrate a coworker leaving the company, and this time, in the same spot, we gathered again to send off good energy with a colleague who's moving to a new job.🥳🎉 Laughing and talking with good people over good food made even me feel happy that whole day 🤍
