Gangnam-gu Office Station barbershop trim for growing-out hair: Divers
In short
Divers Barbershop Gangnam-gu Office Station Branch is a men's haircut barbershop on basement level 1 of the SK Hub Blue building near Exit 2 of Gangnam-gu Office Station in Gangnam, Seoul. The writer's husband, growing his hair out for a future part perm, asked for a classic cut that kept as much of his current length as possible and tidied only the messy areas, along with a full down perm. Even with almost no length taken off, the side lines looked far neater, and he said he would return to Divers Barbershop.

Divers Barbershop is very close to Gangnam-gu Office Station, so it was easy to find. I visited to get my husband's hair done, and the shop had a clean atmosphere with a distinct barbershop feel different from a regular hair salon — I thought it'd be a comfortable place for men to get a cut. Especially for office workers around Gangnam-gu Office Station, it seemed convenient for a lunch-break or after-work cut!

Growing his hair out: what we asked for in the consultation
Before starting, Divers Barbershop did a thorough consultation. In summer, my husband kept his hair short and swept it all back because it was too hot, but by now it had gotten pretty long. This time, instead of cutting it short again, he's planning to grow it out further for a part perm, so he asked to keep the existing length as much as possible and just trim the messy parts (my husband doesn't talk much, but the stylist read exactly what was needed without him having to explain much).
The classic cut and full down perm at Divers Barbershop
Today's service for my husband was a classic cut + full down perm.

For men's hair especially, it's important during a cut to look not just at length but at how he usually styles it, where it lifts, and what silhouette suits his face shape — and the consultation covered all of that in detail.

Based on that careful consultation, it felt less like cutting to a requested length and more like keeping his current strengths while fixing the weak points through the cut and down perm together. Since my husband is growing his hair out, it could easily look messy at this awkward length, so I liked that they only cleaned up what was needed at this stage.
A full down perm shaped around his face shape
This time a full down perm was done as well.

My husband tends to have lift right above (or slightly above?) his sideburns, and a down perm makes the whole silhouette much cleaner for that type. But since flattening it too hard could make the face look longer, the stylist didn't just press everything down uniformly — she carefully did the down perm only on the parts that lifted.
I used to think a down perm just meant flattening the side hair, but seeing it in person, it's really about how much you press down where, based on face shape and overall proportions.

After applying the down perm solution, she let it sit for about 10 minutes, then did a nice, thorough shampoo.

How the style looked after the cut and down perm
Without touching the overall length much, they trimmed only what was needed, and the down perm set the side lines, making it all look much tidier.

The cut itself didn't really change the length much, yet it looked this clean — definitely the work of an expert hand.
Especially for someone like my husband who styles his hair quickly before rushing off to work, a natural silhouette like this should also be easy to maintain.

With styling finished, it looked even neater! My husband was happy with this cut and down perm and said he'd like to come back next time he needs a cut or down perm. If you're growing your hair out and unsure how to manage that awkward length, or if you want a cut and down perm suited to your face shape and daily styling habits, it might be worth visiting Divers Barbershop for a consultation.
