Sangbong pork belly pub with 5,000-won doenjang stew: Super Naengsam
In short
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a frozen pork belly (naengsam) pub near Sangbong Station in Jungnang, Seoul, with an open-air pocha feel. Frozen pork belly costs 9,900 won for 150g, and two diners worked through four servings before adding doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) at 5,000 won and a bowl of rice at 1,000 won, skipping the bibim noodles from the Hangang ramyeon machine because they were already full. I was looking for somewhere in Sangbong to grill meat and have a drink in the evening, and ended up at Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch. The whole vibe here is total neighborhood outdoor-pocha style, perfect for stopping by after work for casual grilling.

There were quite a few regulars there when I visited, which somehow made the place feel even more comfortable.

What is the atmosphere like at Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch?
The atmosphere here isn't the sleek, polished Korean BBQ look you see these days — it really feels like an outdoor pocha (tent bar) that's been running in the neighborhood forever! Sitting at the table grilling naengsam (frozen pork belly), I honestly got a little confused about whether this was a Sangbong bar or an outdoor pocha haha.

If you like this kind of vibe, you'll probably really enjoy it. And on top of that, the prices were pretty good.

Frozen pork belly price: 9,900 won for 150g, four servings for two
The naengsam at Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is ₩9,900 for 150g, which felt like an easy price to enjoy given how prices are these days. The two of us ended up ordering a whopping 4 servings.

Four servings for two people... we really went all out on meat that day. The naengsam is sliced thin, so it cooks quickly once it hits the pan. Grilling it nice and golden, taking one bite and then another, I just kept reaching for more.

The thin, crispy texture that's unique to naengsam tastes great and goes really well with a drink. And especially with this kind of naengsam, it's even better paired with garlic and sides instead of just eating meat non-stop, right?

The Hangang ramyeon machine even makes bibim noodles
And Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch has a Hangang ramyeon machine too! Grilling naengsam and then boiling up some ramyeon — isn't that basically the golden rule combo at a bar, haha.

Next time I really want to eat a bit less meat and try the naengsam + bibim noodles combo.
Doenjang stew 5,000 won plus rice 1,000 won
Since eating just meat felt like a bit of a waste, we also ordered doenjang jjigae for ₩5,000 and rice for ₩1,000. A spoonful of rice dipped in doenjang stew between bites of meat — this combo never fails.

With 4 servings of naengsam for two plus doenjang stew and rice, we were completely full. Overall, Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch felt less like an elaborately decorated BBQ spot and more like a comfortable neighborhood place to sit, grill naengsam, have a drink, and chat.

Especially with the outdoor-pocha atmosphere, it seems like a great place to visit casually with friends. And the price is easy on the wallet too, since naengsam is ₩9,900 for 150g, making it comfortable for a group to order a bunch of things.
People who love meat like us might just keep adding orders the moment they sit down...

The fact that we ate 4 servings of naengsam and still couldn't get to the bibim noodles shows just how serious we were about meat that day haha. Next time I want to order a bit more leisurely so I can definitely have both naengsam and bibim noodles.

Finishing off naengsam with bibim noodles would have made for a truly complete outdoor-pocha feast. But we'd already gone on a naengsam rampage with 4 servings... eating bibim noodles too felt like we really wouldn't be able to get up, so sadly we gave up on the ramyeon.
But we did finish the doenjang stew.

Is Super Naengsam Sangbong worth a visit?
If you're looking for a Sangbong bar to eat meat and have a casual drink without any fuss, Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch with its outdoor-pocha vibe is worth a visit. Next time I'll eat just a little naengsam and... go for the Hangang ramyeon challenge haha.
