Sookmyung Station rice bowl restaurant: Goshi Goshi yukhoe bowl
In short
Goshi Goshi Sookmyung Women's University Station Direct Branch is a Japanese-style rice bowl and pork cutlet restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exit 8 of Sookmyung Women's University Station in Yongsan, Seoul. On a weekday off, before a movie in Yongsan, the writer ordered the yukhoe (raw beef) rice bowl for 13,900 won and added a 3,900 won side of pork cutlet, and the fresh — never frozen — raw beef and generous portion were the highlights. With solo counter seats plus 2- and 4-person tables, Goshi Goshi is an easy place to eat a filling meal alone.

Took a weekday off to see a movie in Yongsan, and stopped by Goshi Goshi Sookmyung Direct Branch for dinner first — here's my review of the yukhoe (raw beef) rice bowl + pork cutlet set 💝
Goshi Goshi Sookmyung Direct Branch is a 5-minute walk from Exit 8 of Sookmyung Women's University Station. Maybe because it's near a university area, they serve filling pork cutlets and rice bowls — perfect for eating alone. ❤️🔥
If you take part in the review event, you get 50% off a side dish. Since Yongsan I'Park Mall is nearby, they're also running a movie ticket giveaway and a Hwasaenggong partnership event!

You can check the menu board right at the entrance, so a few people stopped to browse it on their way in.

Solo seats and the atmosphere inside Goshi Goshi
Inside Goshi Goshi Sookmyung Women's University Station Direct Branch, there are solo seats as well as 2- and 4-person tables, so it looked great for both solo diners and groups. Back in college, I used to feel self-conscious eating alone and worried about what other people thought;; but now I've become a professional solo diner haha.
The kitchen was semi-open too, so I could see it was kept clean ✔️

They're running an opening event where writing a review gets you 50% off a side dish, so anyone interested should definitely take part 🤭

Goshi Goshi menu: why the yukhoe rice bowl won
The menu was pretty varied — pork cutlets, soba dishes, katsu-don, and rice bowls, all lined up looking delicious .. 👍
Order — Yukhoe rice bowl ₩13,900 / Added: pork cutlet ₩3,900
I was torn between the butter garlic mackerel bowl and the yukhoe (raw beef) rice bowl, but after reading reviews I found out it's not frozen yukhoe but actual ⭐️fresh raw beef⭐️ — I thought, this is a rare chance‼️ and immediately ordered the yukhoe rice bowl >.< Since I was heading to a long 4DX movie, I also added a pork cutlet to make sure I'd be full.

Such a gorgeous spread ❤️🔥 All the staff at Goshi Goshi Sookmyung Direct Branch were women, the kitchen looked well-managed, and most of all, everyone was kind .. ✨️
Fresh raw beef rice bowls are hard to come by these days (even wedding buffets are full of frozen yukhoe ..), so this was the best possible menu for filling up on protein — perfect since I've been paying more attention to what I eat lately.

Are the cabbage salad and side dishes refillable?
I've gotten really into reading about health, food, and exercise lately, and I've learned that what you eat first really matters — so I've come to care a lot about eating vegetables or fiber with the first bite. Cabbage is love 💕
It was even better that you could easily request water, plates, utensils, or extra side dishes with the call button on the table. The cabbage salad was so good I got a refill. Anyway, I made sure to eat the cabbage first haha.

The pork cutlet sauce looked homemade, and the clear soup, pickled chili, and cubed radish kimchi were all things I love, so I cleaned every plate 👍
How does the 13,900-won yukhoe rice bowl taste?
The visuals on the yukhoe rice bowl were stunning .. ✨️ The special soy sauce blend and fresh raw beef came together in an explosion of umami, haha.

The yolk was so vibrant I wondered for a second if it was a grade-1 egg. Goshi Goshi Sookmyung Direct Branch, I love you .. 💛
Before mixing, the color of the raw beef was so good I kept staring at it happily before shaking it up with the yolk 🤭

Above all, the portion wasn't small at all — plenty to fill you up — and the freshness of the raw beef was insane‼️ Now I'm curious about that butter garlic mackerel bowl I was torn on last time, at Goshi Goshi Sookmyung Direct Branch, my go-to solo-dining spot near Sookmyung. (❤️)

Why the pork cutlet is better ordered as a 3,900-won side
Look at that color on the pork cutlet 🥹🥹 You can tell it's made with generous, quality pork 👍 I really liked that instead of ordering it as a standalone dish, you can add it as a side to try whatever else you're curious about.
If you love pork cutlet but ordered something else as your main, I'd definitely recommend adding it as a side dish to try ✔️

I'd taken the afternoon off and was out and about all day, so I was starving — and this dinner at Goshi Goshi Sookmyung Direct Branch, before heading to my pre-booked movie, was exactly the filling meal I needed. Recommended as a solo-dining rice bowl and pork cutlet spot near Sookmyung.
