I was craving a handmade burger today, so I went to Bass Burger Sinyongsan in Yongridan-gil. It's easy to get to from both Sinyongsan and Samgakji stations, and it's the kind of place where you can enjoy not just burgers but a range of sides and craft beer too. Good for a light meal, and honestly a solid spot for burger-and-beer as well. Let me walk through everything I tried, plus the vibe of the place!

Walking from Sinyongsan Station into the Yongridan-gil alleys, the neon sign out front makes the place easy to spot. The overall vibe is casual and hip, with the distinct feel of a handmade burger joint. There's a waiting-number machine right by the entrance, so if there's a line you can register easily right outside. Yongridan-gil gets busy with dinner crowds, so having a proper waiting system made things convenient.

The inner area feels cozier and more atmospheric thanks to the lighting. There are tables in a few different arrangements, good for two people or for a bigger group. Beyond the regular tables there's also terrace seating, which seems nice for eating outdoors on a good-weather day. Overall the mood isn't too formal — it's a comfortable place to enjoy burgers and beer.

What's on the menu: burgers, sides and beer

Beyond the signature Bass Burger, there's a wide lineup — cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, double burger and more. Each one has different toppings and patty combinations, so it was easy to pick according to taste.

There's also a good range of side menu items to go with the burgers, like fries and cheese fries, making it easy to add something light on the side.

Along with soft drinks, there's a nice variety of beers too, which pairs well with a burger.

How the self-serve fries and sauce bar works

On one side of the store there's a self-serve fries bar where you can help yourself to as much as you like. Nice to have when you're halfway through a burger and want more fries — and it meant we could enjoy the sides generously.

Assorted sauces set out at the self-serve bar
Sauce bar with salt and pepper also provided

Next to the fries there was a selection of sauces along with salt and pepper. Being able to grab whatever sauce you wanted made it easy to season the fries or the burger to taste.

  • 2 glasses of Bass Lager

The Bass Burger was clean and solid overall, a no-frills flavor that was easy to eat without feeling heavy. The vegetables in with the patty were fresh too, with a nice crunchy texture. The cheese bacon fries is a set option I'd recommend adding! Crispy fries topped with cheese and bacon, much more indulgent than plain fries.

The chili mozza cheese bars had a nice balance of savory cheese and spicy seasoning, and paired well with the burger.

For reference, the restroom is a separate one located outside the store, and there's a bottle of Febreze by the entrance, handy if you're worried about odors on your clothes or nearby after eating.
