Yongsan Korean BBQ with staff grilling: Muttuk Sookdae Main
In short
Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Yongsan, Seoul, near Sookmyung Women's University Station. I enjoyed the ₩69,800 Korean pork set, refreshing sides, cheesy steamed egg, and cold buckwheat noodles while the staff grilled everything; corkage is free. Verdict: a satisfying choice for a full Korean BBQ meal and gathering.

I visited Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch (무뚝 숙대본점), a great meat spot near Sookmyung Women's University Station. It is well known among Sookmyung students and is also a neighborhood favorite in Cheongpa-dong, so I had to try it—and it was a Sookdae-area favorite with delicious meat and even delicious side dishes.

Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch is very close to Sookmyung Women's University Station on Line 4. It is right at the entrance toward Sookmyung Women's University, so lots of students come by, along with plenty of Cheongpa-dong locals!

You can eat at Muttuk without waiting by booking through Naver. I visited at an in-between time on a weekday, so I got to enjoy the quiet atmosphere~ I’m the kind of person who eats meat from the morning, hehe.

Fresh side dishes and sauces
The side dishes included myeong-i namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), shredded scallions, ssam greens for wrapping, kimchi, and pickles, all served neatly. I really liked that they did not feel like old, stale side dishes. I refilled the scallions and myeong-i namul several times.

They also brought seaweed for grilling, minari sauce, salt, and sauces, all neatly presented. I love having minari (water dropwort) with meat! The minari sauce was so good that I scraped up every last bit. They use coarse salt, which made a great textural pairing with the meat!
Muttuk Korean Pork Assorted Set and sides
Ordered: Muttuk Korean Pork Assorted Set (₩69,800), mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles, ₩8,000), and Cheese Bomb Steamed Egg (₩7,000).

Muttuk Korean Pork Assorted Set, ₩69,800
This is a great-value set with pork neck, pork belly, skirt meat, and their special doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and it is just right for three people. Everything came out so neatly, right? Look at that color on the meat. Freshness itself~

Staff-grilled meat and free corkage
One of the things I really loved about Muttuk Sookdae was this: the staff grill the meat for you! They do the grilling, and corkage is free too. I would also recommend it when looking for a place for a wedding-invitation gathering near Line 4.

The meat had such a lovely color, and vegetables came with it, making them easy to enjoy together. The standard grilling vegetables made the spread even more generous.

The doenjang jjigae came with it too, packed with vegetables and meat! It was perfect with the barbecue. Nutty, salty, and full of umami—you know what I mean, haha. Have the meat together with this stew and it is a true rice thief!

They grilled it beautifully while sealing in all the juices, and it had me drooling. Mmm!

The cuts were thick, and they grilled them thick while keeping all that juice inside. They were sizzling and cooked just right. Such a make-you-want-more look... Meat restaurants that grill it for you really do taste better! You know that feeling, right~ The feeling of it being cooked exactly right!

This juicy-looking meat! It was absolutely delicious, bursting with juices. Maybe because they use fresh meat, but it definitely tasted even better. Personally, the pork belly was my favorite. Chewy, springy, juice-filled pork belly!

Cheese Bomb Steamed Egg and mul naengmyeon
The meat was so good that I went a little wild and ordered the Cheese Bomb Steamed Egg too. Fluffy, soft egg with salty cheese, plus little pops of corn to bite intoㅠㅠ It was such a special treat.

I happily tried the mul naengmyeon too. It was so tasty and paired so well with the meat that we finished everything without leaving a thing behind. Be sure to order the mul naengmyeon as well!
