On the last day of my Gangneung trip, I stopped by Gangneung Sand Main Branch (강릉샌드 본점) to choose gifts to share with people back home. I picked the sweet corn and dried persimmon flavors from the available options, and continued taking them out one at a time after I returned home.

Is Gangneung Sand convenient to visit near Ojukheon, with parking?
Gangneung Sand Main Branch is at 31 Seonggogyangil 5beonan-gil, near Ojukheon. It worked well as a stop after visiting the attraction and before heading home.
The parking area was also convenient during my visit. Since I had luggage on the last day of the trip, I liked being able to load the gifts straight into the car and continue on my way.

What is the store atmosphere and ordering process like?
The first thing I noticed after arriving was the size of the building. The main branch uses the first through third floors, and the whole place felt spacious, clean, and well organized. It was easy to look around slowly while choosing gifts.
They sold coffee and several kinds of sand desserts. I ordered what I wanted at a kiosk, and the staff prepared it right away, so the process was simple.

What kinds of sand cookies can you choose as gifts?
The flavors I saw were coffee, dried persimmon, sweet corn, black sesame, and strawberry. Having several options made it possible to choose with the recipient’s preferences in mind.
The cookies were stamped with the name “Gangneung Sand.” I liked that it was immediately clear where the gift came from, making it feel suitable as a travel souvenir. I also thought they would work well as gifts to share with family, friends, or coworkers.

How were the sweet corn and dried persimmon flavors I chose?
What was the sweet corn flavor like?
The sweet corn flavor combined a crisp, nutty sand cookie with the corn’s soft, pleasantly sweet flavor. It did not feel too heavy to me, so it was easy to eat one with coffee, and I also reached for it as a snack after returning home.
What went well with the dried persimmon flavor?
The dried persimmon flavor felt distinctive because it presented a familiar dried persimmon in a sand-cookie format. The crisp outer cookie and sweet buttercream inside went well with tea or coffee. Since it had a different character from the sweet corn flavor, I was happy that I chose both.

Can you take a short break while choosing gifts?
The store also had space where visitors could take a short break during their trip. My main purpose was buying gifts this time, but the spacious layout made it comfortable to look around at a relaxed pace. I heard it also has facilities such as an experiential learning room and an outdoor restroom.
Gangneung Sand reportedly won a gold prize in Gangneung’s 2022 tourism souvenir competition. The local name stamped on the cookies, together with the two flavors I chose, made the gifts feel like a way to remember my trip to Gangneung.

What was convenient about buying gifts on the last day?
Making it part of my last itinerary meant I did not have to carry souvenirs around throughout the trip. I could choose enough to share with people I know, load everything straight into the car, and leave, which was convenient. If you are visiting Ojukheon before heading back, I felt this would be a reasonable stop to add.

On this visit, I liked being able to compare several flavors and choose gifts in the spacious, tidy store. The sweet corn and dried persimmon flavors were good with tea or coffee, and I enjoyed sharing them one at a time even after returning from the trip.
