Ordering the seasonal grilled fish set for two and crab soy sauce

Here's the signature menu at Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa, a great restaurant near IKEA Goyang. That day I ordered the seasonal grilled fish set for two (₩40,000) and added Korean blue crab soy sauce marinade (₩12,500). The base set was already quite generous. According to the menu it included sotbap, six seasonal side dishes, salad, cabbage buckwheat pancake, a seasonal soup, and leafy greens, so I was excited from the start.

Banchan and self-bar

After we sat down, salad, leafy greens, cabbage, ssamjang, and other neat side dishes were set out one by one — nothing overly strong-flavored, just comforting like home cooking 😊 There was japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), various kimchi, and namul (seasoned vegetables), all great for whetting the appetite before the grilled fish arrived.

You could grab more of any side dish you liked from the self-bar, which made it even more satisfying. The savory cabbage doenjang soup was especially good — mild and clean, tasting like something a grandmother in the countryside would make.

The salad bar was also very clean and well maintained.

And here's a fun detail — the food arrived via a serving robot! More and more restaurants are using this system these days, and it's clean, convenient, and a point that kids especially love haha

Cabbage buckwheat pancake

This cabbage buckwheat pancake was a surprisingly nice specialty 🤎 Thin and soft, not heavy at all, and dipped in the sauce it tasted clean yet savory — a nice light bite before the main dish arrived.

How was the Korean blue crab soy sauce marinade?

The Korean blue crab soy sauce marinade I added was also delicious.

Added Korean blue crab soy sauce marinade

The crab meat was soft and plentiful, and the soy sauce wasn't too salty but had a rich savoriness — a real rice thief 😎

My son, a soy sauce crab killer, kept his hands busy the whole time hahaha

Sotbap

The sotbap (hot-pot rice) was also great.

Freshly served sotbap

It had that glossy, warm quality of freshly cooked rice, with grains that were fluffy but held just enough stickiness — it paired really well with the grilled fish.

The main event: seasonal grilled fish

Finally, the star of the meal — seasonal grilled fish!

Golden-brown seasonal grilled fish spread

You could tell at a glance the fish was fresh — the outside was nicely browned while the inside stayed moist, cooked just right.

Plate of flaked fish meat

My husband carefully picked out the meat for us. A generous portion of seasonal grilled fish that never seemed to run out no matter how much we ate 😋

Generous portion of grilled fish on a plate

Soft, nutty, moist 😌 Even after we were full, we kept reaching for more.

White fish flesh with distinct layered texture

Once you flake it apart, you can see the flesh is white with tight, distinct layers — not dry at all, really tender. The seasoning wasn't overly salty either, so you could really taste the fish itself, which was exactly my style 😊

Homemade sikhye served at the end of the meal

Why this is a great place to take your parents

We finished the meal with refreshing homemade sikhye (sweet rice punch). Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a good restaurant in Seongsa-dong, or a satisfying, well-put-together Korean lunch near Hwajeong Station. What I loved most was being able to properly enjoy grilled fish as the main dish, along with such a generous spread of side dishes.

If you enjoy a clean, well-arranged Korean meal, Min Cook Apbadang Seongsa is worth a visit ☺️ It seems especially satisfying for a family outing or a meal with your parents 💛 Oh, and if you visit with your parents, they'll pack you seasoned crab to take home for free 🦀
