Recovery perm on leftover straightened hair at a Goyang hair salon

In short

Zeo Hair AVEDA Goyang Jichuk is a hair salon on the 3rd floor of Daekyung Square on Jichuk 1-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. After a consultation confirmed long hair still holding straightening residue at the ends, the salon paired a recovery-perm base with a long layered perm and a clinic treatment. The result is a low-maintenance style where the curl bounces back with just a blow-dry, enough to make it a regular spot.

Finished long layered perm look

Why I finally decided to get a perm after sticking to straight hair

Today I'm sharing a review of a hair transformation I got after a long time! I usually stick to straight hair almost always. At first I liked how calm and neat it looked, so I kept it that way, but as my hair got longer, one problem kept nagging at me — styling it every single day was just too much of a hassle...! 😂

Long straight hair before the perm treatment

So this time I boldly decided to get a perm! The place I visited was Zeo Hair AVEDA Goyang Jichuk, a hair salon in Ilsan. If you're looking for a salon near Jichuk Station, I think this could be helpful for you :)

I have both a Dyson and a curling iron at home, but I only used them enthusiastically right after buying them — at some point both became forgotten drawer items haha. Curling my hair every morning takes too long, but just drying it and heading out often left my long straight hair looking way too flat.

How the consultation went for hair with leftover straightening

Honestly, I had a bit of worry even while deciding to get the perm. I'd had my hair chemically straightened about a year ago, and the ends still held that straightened texture. So instead of just going for a regular perm, it was important to first thoroughly check the current condition of my hair and take the damage into account before proceeding. After the consultation, I was told a layered perm with a recovery-perm base would suit my hair condition best. Since the old straightening was still lingering, they had to make the curls look pretty while also minimizing further damage.

Recovery-perm base solution made by the director

The director's own house-made recovery-perm base solution

What really impressed me was the recovery-perm base solution used this time! I was told the director personally makes it. Knowing it was a handmade product made with care felt even more special haha.

It's packed with the nutrients and amino acids hair needs, and she told me she doesn't cut corners on ingredients. Seeing how much thought went into the products used made it clear just how much care and dedication went into the whole treatment.

Start of the long layered perm treatment

Requesting a long layered perm I could manage with just a blow-dry

Once we got into the long layered perm, I made sure to be upfront with the director from the start!

Please make it a style that's easy to manage even if I just blow-dry it at home!

What I wanted wasn't hair that only looks good with a fancy curling-iron routine, but a style that stays easy to manage day-to-day while the shape naturally comes alive on its own! Using a Dyson or curling iron every single day is honestly too much hassle and I never have the time 😂 So this long layered perm really turned out to fit my lifestyle perfectly.

Snacks received during the perm treatment

The snack that saved me from showing up hungry

This is actually a behind-the-scenes story... I went straight to the salon after work without eating, so I was in rough shape, but the director kept bringing me snacks throughout, and I can't tell you how grateful I was 😢😢. Perms inevitably take a long time, right...? If she hadn't given me those snacks, I really think I would have collapsed ㅠㅠ

I'm saying goodbye to the frizzy, dry hair I started with and turning into hair with bounce haha. I also did the clinic treatment together since I was worried about damage! I was so thankful they paid attention to every detail based on my hair's condition ❤️

Long hair partway through the perm process

Honestly, the reason I always stuck to straight hair was because my perms always failed before ㅠㅠ. The curls would look pretty right when I left the salon, but after washing my hair, the curl shape always looked off...? Once I decided perms just weren't for me, I stopped getting them altogether, so visiting with real determination this time made me really, really nervous hahaha.

Ta-da~! Conch-shell bread mode haha. Thankfully the curls were coming along really nicely!

How did the finished layered curls turn out

When I looked in the mirror after the treatment, the curls were so, so pretty and I felt really satisfied 🥹✨ Just as I'd hoped, they weren't overly puffy or heavy-looking, but a naturally flowing layered curl, which I liked so much more. It kept the feminine mood that comes with long hair while giving my once-flat style a nice accent point.

Side profile after the layered perm was finished

Before the perm, just washing and blow-drying my hair always left it looking too flat, so I'd end up wondering if I needed to break out the curling iron. Now the curl naturally comes back to life with just a blow-dry, which is so convenient. This was the biggest reason I decided to get the perm in the first place, and the result was so satisfying that I found myself wondering why I hadn't done it sooner haha.

Who would I recommend this to

Especially for people like me who have had straightening treatments before or worry about hair damage, I think it's important to thoroughly check your hair's current condition and decide the direction of the treatment together. Going through the consultation and treatment at Zeo Hair AVEDA Goyang Jichuk this time really reminded me why a consultation before any hair treatment matters so much.

All they did was add volume, yet somehow my hair looks this much more upscale..! I've moved recently and hadn't settled on a regular salon yet, but now this one's my pick >.< I'm really enjoying life these days without spending much time on hair styling, since just blow-drying gives a natural look. If you want to keep your long hair but change up the vibe, or if you're looking for a low-maintenance perm, I'd recommend booking a consultation 💕
