Songdo sushi date with a 10-piece set: Sushi Doku The Songdo
In short
Sushi Doku The Songdo is a sushi restaurant in Yeonsu, Incheon, on the second floor of Onesta Mall. After sending our three children to school, my husband and I shared the 25,900-won 10-piece special set, review-event sushi, mouthwash, and plum tea. Verdict: a satisfying, unhurried date meal for two.

A long-overdue date after sending the kids to school
After sending our three children off to school, my husband and I finally had a date, just the two of us, for the first time in ages. When we eat out with the kids, we are so busy taking care of their meals first, but this time it was just us. We wondered what to eat, then went out for sushi.

The place I visited was Sushi Doku The Songdo (스시도쿠 더송도), on the second floor of Onesta Mall.

If you are looking for good places to eat in Songdo, Incheon, this is probably somewhere you have heard of at least once. Being inside Onesta Mall made parking easy, and it was nice to be able to eat and shop in one go. Songhyeon-a is right next door too, so it was great for looking around.
Premium Special Sushi Set, 10 pieces
We ordered the Premium Special Sushi Set, 10 pieces, that day.

It comes with 10 kinds of sushi: flounder, red sea bream, salmon, ika (squid), sweet shrimp, akami (lean tuna), red shrimp, red crab meat, eel, and ankimo (monkfish liver). It was ₩25,900. Each piece was plated so neatly that taking photos was part of the fun too.

I especially love salmon, and I personally really liked that it came sliced long. Salmon is best when it is long and thickly cut, haha.

Also, instead of dipping the sushi in soy sauce, they gave us something shaped like a brush, so we brushed the soy sauce directly onto the sushi. It was a little different and fun. The salmon was my favorite, and the monkfish liver was rich and delicious too.

My husband said the squid, maybe? That sushi was especially good. Since we have different tastes, it was so nice and relaxing to talk about what each of us liked while we ate.
It was not just sushi
Maybe because it was the special set, it came with steamed egg, salad, fried items, and udon as well, so it was more filling than I expected. The steamed egg even had ginkgo nuts in it, and it was so soft. My husband said the slightly bitter ginkgo nuts made it even tastier. I do not know exactly what the salad dressing was, but it suited my taste, so I enjoyed it too.

The fried items, which seemed to be shrimp tempura and fried chicken thigh, were crispy and delicious too.

Having warm udon alongside it made the meal much more filling than sushi alone.
Naver receipt review event

If you leave a Naver receipt review, you can receive premium otoro sushi, normally ₩6,900, on the house.

We left a review and received it too, and it was delicious, so we happily ate it up together, haha.
A place that felt good right through the end of the meal
While looking for good sushi in Incheon, I unexpectedly loved these thoughtful details. At the exit after the meal, they had mouthwash, dental floss, and toothpicks ready.

After seafood or sushi, there are times when you want to freshen up your mouth, so the mouthwash was really nice. They also had warm maesil-cha (plum tea), so we had a cup before eating and another on the way out, haha.

Little services like these quietly make you feel good, right? I think it is a nice place to visit if you are looking for sushi in Songdo or want a date at a neat, pleasant spot. More than anything, I really loved having time to slowly eat sushi and chat about this and that with my husband after all the kids had gone to school.

My husband was extremely hungry that day, and he ate so well and said it was delicious, which made me weirdly proud too, haha. Next time, I am curious about the other menu items, so I would like to try the premium special set. Eating out with the kids is lovely too, but I think dates for just the two of us are necessary sometimes.
