Jeju Airport cutlassfish braise for two: Seongsim Jorim
In short
Seongsim Jorim Jeju Airport Branch is a Korean restaurant near Jeju Airport in Jeju. After a weekday lunch wait, I had the Jeju Manong cutlassfish braise for two for 30,000 won, with generous fish, radish, and sauce. Verdict: a filling, friendly place I would gladly revisit for cutlassfish braise.

There was a wait even at weekday lunch
I visited for weekday lunch, and it was absolutely packed!! There were enough people that I had to wait. Once I ate, I understood why there were so many customers. It was sooo good 🤤🤤

Side dishes and soup at the self-service station
As you go farther into the restaurant, there is a self-service station for side dishes and soup! Some banchan (Korean side dishes) are served as standard, but if you need more, feel free to use the self-service bar and take as much as you can eat!

There is doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup), too, as well as baby spoons and forks.

There is a restroom inside the restaurant.

We had cutlassfish braise, and the cutlassfish is from Jeju~!! The country-of-origin sign was displayed prominently, so I could eat with confidence.

Seongsim Jorim is not just braised food—it is a mother's heart!!
Those words really made me feel how sincere they are 🥹👍

Ordering the Jeju Manong cutlassfish braise for two
The two of us visited together, so we ordered the Jeju Manong cutlassfish braise for two! Braised dishes can be ordered starting from a minimum of two people.

These are the basic side dishes served at the start, along with the rice that comes with the braise. They also gave us small plates so we could easily pick the fish apart!

Jeju Manong Cutlassfish Braise (for two) · ₩30,000
They say this Jeju Manong cutlassfish braise is made with a broth simmered for over two hours using vegetable stock and barley soy sauce, plus a sauce aged for seven days and Daejeong garlic!!

There was plenty of cutlassfish, and it was loaded with radish, too. It was topped with lots of Daejeong garlic, so it was exactly the kind of flavor Koreans would love!! There was also enough sauce to mix right into the rice.

The whole spread!! If you need more side dishes, try the self-service bar. The piping-hot Jeju Manong cutlassfish braise had just come out fresh!! Can you see the size of that fish? 🤤 Time to remove the bones so I could eat it comfortably!

The left is before removing the bones, and the right is after. My companion removed the bones for me, so I only had to pick out the large ones and could eat comfortably!!! >_<

A big bite of rice and cutlassfish,

Then I mixed rice with the sauce on gim (roasted seaweed), added radish and bean sprouts, and took a huge bite—waaah~!! The sauce was not salty, so it was perfect for mixing with rice.

We ate every last bite. Proof shot~~ 📸 At first, I wondered whether cutlassfish braise alone might not be enough, and considered ordering the fresh kimchi boiled pork, too. But I decided to wait until the food came and see whether the portion felt small or lacking(?). The cutlassfish braise was more plentiful and delicious than I expected, so we thoroughly scraped up even the sauce!

Cutlassfish braise is a must-order next time, too
- Receive fresh-squeezed hallabong juice with a photo receipt review event
- Order braise and grilled cutlassfish together to receive a small fresh-kimchi boiled pork dish for ₩100
Even when I visit again, I think the Jeju Manong cutlassfish braise will be a must-order! I am also curious about the fresh-kimchi boiled pork, so I would like to order a small one next time. Even though they were busy with so many customers, the staff were kind! I never revisit places that are delicious but unfriendly, but Seongsim Jorim is both delicious and kind, so I definitely plan to return!!
