Jeju pizza restaurant for a solo lunch set and pasta: Dough Rider Pizza

Today, I’m going to tell you about trying a solo lunch set and pasta at Dough Rider Pizza (도우라이더 피자), a great wood-fired pizza spot in Ara-dong, Jeju.

Dough Rider Pizza has an American-style interior reminiscent of an American pub,

and its appeal is its wood-fired pizzas, cooked on the spot once an order comes in.

Why Dough Rider Pizza tastes even better

Dough Rider says it makes its dough with Caputo Pizzeria flour, the traditional flour of Naples, Italy.

Dough Rider starts stretching the dough only after an order comes in, so you can enjoy the true flavor and warmth of wood-fired pizza. It can take a little while, though, so it’s best to visit when you have some time to spare.

You can’t park in front of the shop, but there is a completely free public parking lot and a spacious paid lot right next door, which means parking is one less thing to worry about.

An American—no, “Mikuk”—pub-like interior

Before we visited, a friend looked up reviews and said, “It has total ‘Mikuk’ vibes.” I wondered what that meant, but...

once I got there, it was a pizza-and-beer place with the kind of vibe that brings to mind an American—no, “Mikuk” (the slightly altered pronunciation gives it a different feel)—pub.

From outside, the shop did not look especially large, but it felt more spacious inside because of its long rectangular layout.

There are bar-style tables where solo diners can eat comfortably,

while the rest is mainly seating for groups of three to four,

plus group seating for eight to ten people at once. It was occupied, so I skipped the photo.

Water and forks are self-service

For customers’ convenience and to keep staff movement to a minimum, Dough Rider operates water and tableware on a self-service basis.

Use the water dispenser at the end of the shop for water, and the self-service bar for spoons, forks, knives, and side dishes. There is also a pickup zone for takeout customers and delivery riders, as well as a return zone for dishes.

Adding pasta to the solo lunch set

We ordered pasta in addition to the solo lunch set.

The solo lunch set combines a pan pizza, a side, and a drink, and I liked that you can add pizza toppings and choose the side and drink. Orders are placed at the kiosk.

The pan pizza is not too large, making it great for one person. Even if you order a large pizza, it is no problem: self-service boxes are available for packing up leftovers. The pasta was loaded with cheese. Freshly made and brought out hot, it was the kind of combination that simply could not taste bad.

Walk-in takeout customers get 10% off on weekdays and 5% off on weekends. You can also earn 3% in points, so ask at the counter and enjoy the extra benefit.

Thanks to its stylish interior and its determination not to prepare the dough in advance, it takes a little time, but it is definitely delicious. Contrary to my expectation that it would have mostly younger customers, it is a place enjoyed by people of all ages, so I recommend it to anyone looking for a pizza restaurant, great eatery, or drinking spot in Ara-dong.
