Yeouido Station Exit 5 gyukatsu restaurant: thick sirloin set at Izawa
In short
Izawa Yeouido Direct Store is a gyukatsu (Japanese deep-fried beef cutlet) restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Yeouido shopping complex, directly in front of Exit 5 of Yeouido Station in Seoul. On a dinner visit with her youngest sibling, the writer ordered two sirloin gyukatsu sets at 18,000 won each and grilled the thick cutlets, whose batter clung tightly to the meat, on a mini tabletop charcoal grill. The portions were generous enough to satisfy two committed meat-eaters, though at Izawa the grill smoke lingers during peak hours.

Where is Izawa Yeouido Direct Store, and is there parking?
Izawa is easy to find — it's on the 2nd floor of the Yeouido general shopping complex, right in front of Yeouido Station Exit 5!

Parking is available, but the underground lot is paid, so if you're driving, be sure to check the ground-level parking on the 1st floor! haha
Inside Izawa: bar seats for solo diners

The interior of Izawa Yeouido Direct Store was pretty ordinary as restaurants go. There's also a bar table, which looked like a great spot for Yeouido office workers to grab lunch or dinner solo.
I visited during the evening, a busy time, but the staff were friendly and attentive throughout, so I was able to relax and enjoy the whole meal.

That said, because the menu involves cooking on a grill, the dining room can feel a bit smoky during peak hours since the smoke doesn't clear that quickly! 😂 hahaha Still, I had a great time chatting away with my sibling over a delicious meal.
Izawa's menu and how much the gyukatsu set costs

Besides its signature gyukatsu sets, Izawa also serves steak don, ramen, mazesoba, and a variety of other Japanese dishes, so there's plenty to choose from depending on what you're craving.

But my sibling and I didn't even hesitate — we both went straight for the signature gyukatsu set, two orders.
Sirloin gyukatsu set: ₩18,000
Sirloin gyukatsu set: how thick is the beef, and how much do you get?

The moment Izawa's gyukatsu set arrived, the thickness and quantity of meat already earned it a passing grade in my book!

You know how at some gyukatsu places the breading separates from the meat and just falls off, or the meat's cut so thin it just tastes greasy? At Izawa Yeouido, though, the breading clung tightly to the meat, sliced nice and thick, and it had a really satisfying bite.

They must be using fresh sirloin, because there was no gamey smell at all and the nutty flavor really came through. The base seasoning wasn't overly salty either, so I could keep eating without getting tired of it all the way to the end.

Grilling your own gyukatsu on a mini charcoal grill
Personally, I really love the sizzling sound when you put the gyukatsu on the mini grill! If you're impatient it might feel a little slow and frustrating, but chatting quietly with your dining companion while grilling each piece one at a time is honestly pretty fun.
Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside — grill it just a bit more and you get an even richer, more tender flavor. haha

Above all, Izawa gives you way more meat than other gyukatsu brands, so both my sibling and I, total meat lovers, walked away fully satisfied. hahaha My sibling kept saying the whole meal that this place is seriously good. haha

If you're near Yeouido Station and want a high-quality, generous gyukatsu set, or you're looking for a relaxed spot for a pleasant dinner appointment, I'd definitely recommend checking out Izawa, a solid restaurant near Yeouido Station!
