Sashimi set menu for two at Damiseon, a Gangnam Station restaurant

In short

Damiseon Gangnam Station Branch is a sashimi and seafood restaurant on the B1 level of Daewoo Dosi Ebit 1cha on Gangnam-daero in Seocho, Seoul. Before an exam, the writer and her mother ordered the Basic Han-sang Small for two at 80,000 won, which brought in-season red seabream and olive flounder sashimi, a boiled seafood platter, soy-marinated shrimp, grilled saury, fried shrimp and gim-maki (seaweed rice rolls), finishing with a roe-packed seodari-tang (fish bone soup) and a bowl of rice. Both the sashimi quality and the rice were excellent, making Damiseon a solid choice for treating someone near Gangnam Station.

Photo from a visit to Damiseon Gangnam Station Branch

I visited Damiseon, a great spot for a date-night drink near Gangnam Station.

My mom took a weekday off to study for a certification exam, and beforehand she asked me to treat her to a good meal to build up her strength…

I guess I was in charge of Mom's nourishment now haha. Since I also had a dermatology appointment near Gangnam Station, we decided to have dinner at Damiseon — right in front of my mom's workplace, a place she often visits for lunch!

Damiseon menu and prices: how much is a set for two?

Damiseon's signature dishes are the han-sang (table set) combos. The Special Han-sang is ₩100,000 for small, ₩150,000 for medium, and ₩200,000 for large; the Basic Han-sang is ₩80,000 for small, ₩120,000 for medium, and ₩160,000 for large.

What side dishes come with the Damiseon set?

Damiseon side dishes including corn mayo

After we sat down and ordered, the side dishes came out first. This corn mayo that every sashimi restaurant serves without fail!!

I'm a picky eater with a kid's palate, and I absolutely hate corn mayo with cucumber in it, but Damiseon's corn mayo had no cucumber. Pass!

Steamed egg included in the Basic Han-sang
Damiseon Basic Han-sang steamed egg

Ordering the Basic Han-sang got us enough red seabream, olive flounder, and in-season sashimi to fill two people up, plus a variety of other dishes. Steamed egg was included too, and it was delicious. Even with simple ingredients, steamed egg is always so good!

What is in the Basic Han-sang Small for two (80,000 won)?

Damiseon's Basic Han-sang Small is ₩80,000 for two people, and it comes with red seabream, olive flounder, in-season sashimi, and in-season seafood. The portions were seriously generous, and my mom was so happy.

We ordered the Basic Han-sang, which let us try various in-season seafood along with red seabream and olive flounder sashimi! The sashimi quality was really good too. The color alone was a cut above!

Thickly sliced red seabream and olive flounder sashimi

A while back my mom got food poisoning from sashimi at another restaurant and had a rough time in the bathroom… Sashimi really is a dish where cleanliness and freshness matter so much.

If you need somewhere nice to treat someone near Gangnam Station, I'd recommend Damiseon for the atmosphere.

Each piece of sashimi was thick and generous, filling your mouth completely, and the texture was incredibly springy — words fail me. My mom asked to be treated to a nourishing meal, and she was very satisfied.

Since she's already a regular for lunch here, she's on friendly terms with the staff haha. She says when she comes for lunch they often throw in extra side dishes, and the rice is always great too.

Sea squirt, abalone, conch, octopus — all my mom's favorite seafood, present and accounted for. Chewy and springy, nothing at Damiseon feels thrown together — it really feels like you're being treated well.

Then the soy-marinated shrimp came out..! I usually can't handle raw seafood if there's even a hint of fishiness, but Damiseon's soy shrimp had zero fishy taste — just nutty, sweet, and bouncy.

I could've finished a whole bowl of rice with this alone.

Complimentary clam soup

They brought out a complimentary clam soup, and it was spicy and refreshing — perfect for whetting the appetite.

Grilled saury, fried shrimp and gim-maki (seaweed rice rolls)

Grilled saury served with the Basic Han-sang

Since I'm not great with raw fish, I was waiting for the other dishes in the Basic Han-sang, and this grilled saury!! A big, generous piece of saury, grilled beautifully.

Plump, with plenty of meat, and grilled so cleanly — genuinely, genuinely delicious.

Freshly fried shrimp
Fried shrimp and gim-maki spread

The fried shrimp was legendary — crispy king!!! It was so crunchy I thought I was eating a cracker haha. Fresh out of the fryer, fried shrimp needs no explanation, it's just insanely good. Dip it lightly in the soy sauce and it's heaven on a plate.

Then the gim-maki (seaweed rice roll) arrived too — a legendary lineup~~!! The seaweed was slightly thick and crispy, and inside, the vinegared rice mixed with popping roe was seriously delicious.

If you love sashimi, you could put a piece on top of this maki and enjoy it even more~~?

Plate of springy sashimi

Look at this plump, springy sashimi. Anyone who loves sashimi will feel their heart racing just from the photo. These delicious slices are probably already part of my mom's blood and flesh by now...

Are you team cho-jang (vinegared chili sauce) or team soy sauce? I hear if you really want to taste the sashimi, you should dip it in soy sauce, but for us purebred Korean commoners, that rule doesn't apply. We just eat both, alternating!!

Roe-packed seodari-tang (fish bone soup) and rice to finish

Seodari-tang packed with roe

While we were happily eating away, the staff said, let us know if you'd like some seodari-tang (fish bone soup)~ So of course I said yes right away!!! Usually seodari-tang has just the fish head, but this one was packed with roe.

Ridiculously generous. If you love roe, you'll go crazy for this!!!! The taste was clean and spicy, and it felt like a crime not to mix it with rice, so I ordered a bowl right away.

Separately ordered rice with two kinds of kimchi

I ordered the rice separately, and when it arrived, they also gave us two kinds of kimchi!!

My mom said the rice here is really good, and honestly, I don't know what rice cooker they use, but it was glossy and the grains were incredibly chewy — insane. Mixing the fish bone soup broth into a mountain of white rice, my stomach was already full but I kept eating anyway, it was that good.

They also have a lunch special menu, so if you're an office worker near Gangnam Station looking for lunch, or looking for a sashimi restaurant or a bar near Gangnam Station, I think Damiseon is worth a visit!
