I had no idea a place with this kind of value-for-money existed in Myeon-mok.. I went looking for somewhere new instead of my usual spot, and this is what I found!

It's not easy to find a Jungnang-gu Korean BBQ restaurant that nails both value and taste at the same time, but this place also has real outdoor-grilling vibes, which made it perfect for the weather these days.

Good for hanging out with friends, and just as good for a family outing — here's my honest review of Daepan Sotddukkeong Kimchi Samgyeopsal.
Where is Daepan Sotddukkeong near Myeonmok Station, and what is it like inside?
Daepan Sotddukkeong Kimchi Samgyeopsal sits right on the main road near Myeon-mok Station (614-1 Dongil-ro, 1F, Jungnang-gu), so it's super easy to find. It's open daily 11:00–22:00, with a break time of 15:00–17:00 and last order at 21:30.
Being right on the main road, the lively atmosphere catches your eye immediately, and the smell of grilling meat drifting from a distance already had my mouth watering. The big open door lets the breeze flow through, giving it that full outdoor-grilling feel that suited the weather perfectly — I felt good before I'd even sat down.
The place looked freshly opened, spotless both inside and out, and the staff greeted us with smiles the moment we walked in. First impression: passed.
📌 The menu 📌

What comes in the 37,000-won couple set, grilled on a cauldron lid?
The first thing we ordered at Daepan Sotddukkeong was the couple set (pork belly + pork neck + grilled cheese + steamed egg) for 37,000 won. The main reason I want to make this my regular spot is, hands down, the value for money.
With prices these days making you worry about your wallet before you even go out to eat, the quality of the meat here relative to price is genuinely excellent.

They grill thick-cut pork belly on top of a huge cauldron lid, so the heat spreads evenly and the meat comes out golden brown and delicious.

I don't think I've had this much of it elsewhere, but these potatoes and cheese were a whole separate highlight? Potatoes are also at the self-serve corner, so you can keep grilling more of them yourself haha.

It's rare to find a Jungnang-gu Korean BBQ restaurant where you can grill kimchi and assorted vegetables together on the cauldron lid like this — the aged kimchi was so sweet and tangy that eating it with the meat cut right through the richness.

Frying your own kimchi pancake at the self-serve corner
The self-serve corner at Daepan Sotddukkeong is stocked with green onion salad, bean sprouts, lettuce, and perilla leaves, plus potatoes, and off to one side there's a separate spot where you fry your own kimchi pancake (kimchijeon). You know that slightly awkward feeling when you keep asking for refills of lettuce, garlic, or ssamjang while eating meat? Here, there's a neatly maintained self-serve corner off to the side, so you can just help yourself to as much as you want.

It was packed with fresh ingredients, which was basically perfect for someone like me who's obsessed with lettuce wraps.. and having a spot in the self-serve corner where you fry your own kimchi pancake was amazing!
There was even a fun little kick to frying it up golden brown yourself, so there was never a dull moment while waiting for the meat to cook.

Is Daepan Sotddukkeong a good spot for work dinners and reunions?
Daepan Sotddukkeong's interior is much wider than you'd expect, with generous space between tables, so quite a few groups and people out for a work dinner were there. It was the kind of layout that's great for a lively group vibe — grilling delicious meat and clinking glasses together.
With all that space, it looked like it would work perfectly well as a venue for a company dinner or a class reunion too.

At the table next to us there were actually several families out together, and with a menu lineup that covers everyone from adults' tastes to kids' palates, it seemed like a place anyone, young or old, would enjoy.
Finishing with the 5,000-won cheese fried rice
Last but not least, fried rice haha — fried rice with added cheese for 5,000 won total. Eating pork belly while enjoying this outdoor-grilling atmosphere on a cool evening like this feels almost unfair, doesn't it?
They poured on a generous amount of cheese too.. and I scraped the whole thing clean before leaving..

With a light breeze blowing and the sound of pork belly sizzling away.. all the stress that had built up over the day just melted away.

The friendly staff checked in on us throughout the meal to see if we needed anything, which made the whole meal even more enjoyable. If you're wondering where to go for Korean BBQ in Jungnang-gu, drop by Daepan Sotddukkeong Kimchi Samgyeopsal, which has value, taste, and atmosphere all covered!
