Today I'm sharing a review of Kkamuri, a new izakaya I tried while looking for somewhere near Sangbong Station to have a simple drink! It's usually known for skewers and cold beer, so I'd had my eye on it for a while — and this time I really went all out.

Where is Kkamuri Sangbong Station Main Branch?
Kkamuri Sangbong Station Main Branch is close to Exit 3 of Sangbong Station. The exterior is nicely decorated too, so it was easy to spot at a glance.
What comes in the Owner's Home Run Set, and what it costs
To eat a generous variety of everything, we went with the Owner's Home Run Set (₩52,000). It comes with 10 skewers + fish cake soup + a random side dish. You can also switch the soup from the default Kansai fish cake soup to a spicy red fish cake soup. We picked the most classic option, the clear and deep Kansai fish cake soup. On top of that we added mixed fries and two bottles of draft beer to finish the order.

The random side dish: matcha sweet potato cake
Not long after we ordered, the banchan (side dishes) started arriving one by one and it made my mouth water. And today's random side dish was..! Matcha sweet potato cake. 💚🍰 At first glance I thought I'd walked into a fancy dessert café! The bittersweet matcha bean paste was piled on thick like a Mont Blanc thread of strands.

They also gave us ramyeon-ttang (crunchy ramen snack) as a basic side, and it was so good I ended up ordering it on Coupang afterward. Crispy and salty — exactly my style.

The weather's been changing so suddenly lately that I'd been craving warm broth — so let's get into the detailed taste review now.

How was the Kansai fish cake soup at Kkamuri?
The Kansai fish cake soup arrived first, served in its own pot piled high with skewered fish cake, fried tofu pockets, and chewy fish cake until it was nearly overflowing.

I scooped up a spoonful of the broth first — it was spicy yet deeply savory with that distinct bonito flavor, and the moment I drank it a satisfied "kyaa~" just slipped out.

With such a variety of side dishes, the drinks just kept flowing~ Five stars to the owner's cooking skills, for sure.

The plump fish cake on the skewer wasn't overcooked or mushy at all — chewy and springy — and dipped in soy sauce it felt like it hit the spot completely.
Inside the 10-skewer platter
And then the main event I'd been waiting for — the mixed skewer platter with 10 varieties! Served on a black plate, glistening golden-brown.
From chicken thigh and scallion skewers with a hint of smoky char, to chicken skin that's crispy outside and chewy inside, specialty cut skewers, and even whole garlic and ginkgo nut skewers — the lineup was really substantial!
Wasabi and mayonnaise came on the side of the plate, and dabbing a little on made a perfect match with the sweet-and-salty sauce. Now I get why this is such a well-known bar near Sangbong Station.

Taking a bite of skewer and then chugging down a cold beer felt like it washed away the whole day's fatigue.

Was the mixed fries add-on worth it?
Lastly, the mixed fries made their appearance. French fries, wedge potatoes, and even cute smiley potatoes, all fried up in a generous variety.
Such a nice touch — they drew a smiling face with mayonnaise on top of the ketchup sauce! These little details get me every time.
Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, they were perfect for picking at between bites of skewer.

That's how I got to try so many courses! If I come back again, I'd love to try even more dishes.

Overall the quality was high and the portions were generous, so it felt really satisfying. The owner and staff were all so kind that I think the business is bound to keep growing.
Kkamuri's atmosphere, seating and ventilation
If you're near Sangbong Station looking for a skewer place with great-quality side dishes, or a comfortable bar for a date or a gathering, definitely stop by Kkamuri. The moment I walked in, I noticed the interior was clean and pleasant overall, which made the whole visit feel great. Thanks to the cozy yet subtle lighting typical of an izakaya, the atmosphere was relaxed — perfect for chatting quietly.

Best of all, every table had a tablet for ordering installed, so instead of loudly calling over staff, we could order right away with just a few taps on the screen — really convenient. The ventilation also seemed good, since the smell of grilled skewers didn't cling to our clothes too much, so I'd strongly recommend it as a spot for a date or a gathering with friends!

Honestly, when I go to a bar, I care as much about the atmosphere and cleanliness as I do about the food. Here, the moment I opened the door and walked in, I immediately felt how pleasant it was. There was none of the stale grease smell or stuffy air typical of izakayas — it felt fresh, which I loved.
The lighting tone was also soft and warm, so photos came out great — just the right mood.
