Raw shrimp sashimi 1kg with grilled shrimp head butter in Namdong
In short
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch is a raw fish restaurant in Namdong, Incheon, near Incheon City Hall. Visiting on a weekday evening with friends, the writer ordered 1kg of shrimp split between raw sashimi and salt-grilled, then had the leftover heads grilled in butter by staff. With seaweed soup and a self-serve pancake bar to round things out, it's a great spot for a group meal around seasonal shrimp.

Raw shrimp sashimi and salt-grilled shrimp at a Namdong raw fish restaurant
I'm back with another Namdong restaurant review! I recently met up with friends after a while for a proper catch-up, and we ended up enjoying raw shrimp sashimi and salt-grilled shrimp at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch. So today I'm sharing my review of this spot where you can enjoy delicious raw shrimp sashimi and salt-grilled shrimp!
We went on a weekday evening but the place was still packed since it's right near Incheon City Hall! I always think freshness matters most at a raw fish restaurant, and with so many customers coming through, the turnover was great — which meant even fresher fish for us! Let's get into today's post haha.
Location and directions — easier from Yesulhoegwan Station
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch, a well-known raw fish restaurant in Namdong, is located near Incheon City Hall. I took the subway, and since the City Hall side has a lot of stairs, I came out toward Daechan Hospital from Yesulhoegwan Station haha. My friends came from the City Hall side and said all the stairs were tough, so keep that in mind when you visit!
Parking information
There's a small underground parking lot at the restaurant, so you can drive there! On weekdays from 12 to 14:00, after 18:30, and on holidays, you can also park nearby along both main roads — just avoid the fire lanes if you're looking for parking.
Outside and inside the restaurant — outdoor tables and a spacious hall
⭐Outside⭐ The exterior has glass windows so you can see inside, and since the weather's been cooling down, they had outdoor seating set up too :)
With fall weather setting in, the outdoor tables looked like a great spot for raw shrimp sashimi or salt-grilled shrimp haha. It felt a bit warm that day so we headed inside instead.
Near the entrance there was a tank that looked well maintained and clean.
⭐Inside⭐ The interior was much bigger and more pleasant than I expected! There wasn't just one hall — there were seats near the self-serve bar and also plenty more seating further inside on the other side.

It's spacious enough for a company dinner, and also perfect for family gatherings or group meetups with friends. When you think of a Namdong raw fish restaurant you might worry about cleanliness, but the place itself felt clean and comfortable.

There's a small self-serve corner on one side where you can grab extra side dishes or make your own pancakes — such a nice touch! I'd really recommend this place for a Namdong dinner or group gathering :)
Group seating, baby chairs, and other conveniences
Disposable aprons were available, and they had baby chairs too, so families can visit comfortably! The private room seats 14 to 32 people, and the group seating area seats 12 to 40 — good to know if you're choosing a spot for a gathering, so ask when you inquire!
Menu and ordering — 1kg shrimp, half and half
The reason we visited Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch, a well-known Namdong raw fish restaurant, was to have raw shrimp sashimi and salt-grilled shrimp!

There's no paper menu — each table has a tablet, and you order through that.
Being a proper Namdong raw fish restaurant, they had a wide variety of sashimi available — red sea bream, flounder, salmon, rockfish, seasonal fish, and more! They also sold fresh, delicious seafood. And our target dishes, raw shrimp sashimi and salt-grilled shrimp, were on the menu too, available as individual orders!
We pressed for the 1kg shrimp option and saw we could split it half and half, so that's what we ordered haha.

There's also a review event going on, so if you're interested, you might want to check it out!
Banchan and the self-serve bar — seaweed soup and pancakes
They brought water, wet wipes, and paper cups separately! Waiting for my friends who hadn't shown up yet haha.
Before the shrimp arrived, they set out the basic banchan (side dishes) — seaweed soup, hoemuchim (spicy mixed raw fish salad), salad, baechu kimchi, salted pollock roe, wasabi, roasted seaweed, and grilled saury.

The seaweed soup here is genuinely delicious!! I refilled it multiple times — it was so good I basically spilled it all over myself eating it haha.
And I'd definitely recommend ordering a bowl of rice, putting it on roasted seaweed, and topping it with the salted pollock roe!!

At the self-serve bar they had corn mayo, so we piled that onto our plates, and partway through we also made our own pancakes!

There's only one spot for making the pancakes, and since they're so good, the competition for it is fierce haha. You've got to move fast whenever the spot opens up.

You peel the raw shrimp sashimi yourself
Next they brought out the raw shrimp and the salt-grilled shrimp! Since we ordered the raw shrimp sashimi split half and half, they gave it to us on a plate and had us peel it ourselves haha.
I turned out to be pretty good at peeling raw shrimp sashimi, so it wasn't a problem haha. Wow, but since they'd clearly just caught them, you could really feel how fresh and lively they were!
Friend 1 said she couldn't peel raw shrimp, so we put her on saury and salt-grilled shrimp duty, while my other friend and I diligently peeled the raw shrimp haha.
Once we'd finished peeling, it was so plump and fresh — dipped in chojang (vinegar-chili sauce), it was sweet and delicious 🧡

Salt-grilled shrimp and butter-grilled shrimp heads
For the salt-grilled shrimp, they turn on the heat and you can open the lid once it's cooked! Definitely a dish that requires some patience haha.

The salt-grilled shrimp came out perfectly cooked and was so delicious haha.

We cut off all the heads and handed them to staff, who grilled them in butter for us — and the grilled heads were seriously amazing as a drinking snack haha.
Being seasonal shrimp really made a difference — the flavor was so, so good.

If you're craving raw shrimp sashimi and salt-grilled shrimp in Namdong, I recommend Veteran General Fish Market Incheon City Hall Branch! It's a Namdong raw fish restaurant with plenty of other menu items besides shrimp too, so I'd suggest checking it out haha!!
