In short
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch is a seasonal seafood and sashimi restaurant on the 3rd floor of Yeonsugwangjang Plaza, right outside Exit 4 of Yeonsu Station in Yeonsu-dong, Songdo, Incheon. On an early weekend afternoon, two diners ordered the mini raw shrimp sashimi set with 10 grilled shrimp heads for 25,000 won, small flounder sashimi for 35,000 won and spicy fish-bone soup (maeuntang) for 8,000 won, with soju alongside. A seasonal seafood restaurant with amazing value — Veteran General Fish Market.

Where to eat in-season live shrimp sashimi in Songdo and Yeonsu-dong
These days, with shrimp in season, raw shrimp sashimi tempts me more than grilled prawns. If you live around Songdo, Yeonsu-dong in Incheon, here's a seasonal seafood spot worth a visit. Especially if you're after raw shrimp sashimi or grilled prawns — this weather is perfect timing to go.
I was looking for somewhere near Songdo that really does raw shrimp sashimi right, and ended up at Veteran General Fish Market Yeonsu branch. Here's my review.

What the restaurant looks like inside

Since the place had expanded and relocated, the interior was really spacious and comfortable.

Even in the early hours of the weekend, there were quite a lot of families dining, which gave me the impression they have a solid base of regulars.

The tables were spacious too, so it was comfortable to eat and drink, and there was even a self-serve bar where you could grab your own side dishes and vegetables — good for family meals, but also for company dinners or group gatherings.
What two people ordered, and what it cost
Here's what we ordered this time and the prices.
- Mini raw shrimp sashimi + 10 grilled shrimp heads: ₩25,000
- Small flounder sashimi: ₩35,000
- Spicy fish soup: ₩8,000 (only addable with a sashimi order)

The basic side dish spread is amazing... I get why so many families come here.

For two people, this was a satisfying amount — filling and enjoyable.

How the raw shrimp sashimi and grilled shrimp heads tasted
The dish I was most looking forward to was the raw shrimp sashimi, and it was plump and fresh with a real bite to it.

The sweetness that came through the more I chewed was really impressive.
The grilled shrimp heads (fried heads) that came alongside were fried crisp on the outside, so aside from the fun of picking out the shrimp meat, they were great to just eat whole too.

I couldn't not drink soju with this.
Flounder sashimi and the 8,000-won spicy fish-bone soup

It felt like a waste to only eat shrimp sashimi, so we also ordered flounder sashimi — the flesh was firm and the flavor clean, so it was great to alternate between the two. The freshness and the springy yet chewy texture were really good, so if you're visiting as a family, definitely try the assorted sashimi made with seasonal fish.

The fish bone spicy soup is a must too — it had so much fish meat clinging to the bones that it was hard to believe it was only ₩8,000.

You can only add the spicy soup when you order sashimi, and the broth was just spicy enough to finish the meal off nicely.
Final verdict: who should book a table
If you're looking for a place like this, I'd recommend it! If you want fresh raw shrimp sashimi at a good price, if you're looking for somewhere comfortable for a family meal, or if you want a spacious spot for a company dinner or group gathering, Veteran General Fish Market in Yeonsu-dong is worth a visit.
It's not that there are zero places selling shrimp sashimi around Songdo, but I've had experiences where the price felt burdensome or the freshness was disappointing, so finding a genuinely good raw shrimp sashimi spot is trickier than you'd think. In that sense, this place satisfied me on both freshness and price. If you're looking for a raw shrimp sashimi restaurant you can trust, I recommend this one :)
