Grilled pork rice bowl with steamed egg, Gangnam Station: 1992 Deopbap
In short
1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch is a Korean rice bowl and jjageuli (stew) restaurant a 3-minute walk from Exit 3 of Gangnam Station in Seoul. On a weekday visit around 7pm, the Jeolla-do-style yukhoe (beef tartare) rice bowl and the grilled jeyuk (spicy pork) rice bowl were 13,500 won each, with steamed egg chosen as the included side. The kiosk lets you leave out side dishes you don't want and there are separate solo-diner tables, so 1992 Deopbap works well for a filling Korean meal near Gangnam Station.

Today I want to introduce a Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station. Among Korean dishes, I especially love rice bowls and bibimbap, but surprisingly it's hard to find a solid Korean restaurant around Gangnam Station... which is exactly why I've been coming back to 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch for the past four years. If your taste runs the same way as mine, I'd recommend this as a Gangnam Station Korean restaurant pick!

Three minutes from Gangnam Station Exit 3: the hanok-style storefront
1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli Gangnam Main Branch is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 3 of the Sinbundang Line at Gangnam Station, so access is quite good. The hanok (traditional Korean house)-style exterior also stands out, and as soon as you step inside, a menu board is right there, so first-time visitors can check dishes, prices, and photos ahead of time.

Outside there's also a separate space for delivery and takeout pickup, plus two outdoor tables, which would be nice for an al fresco meal on a nice day. There's a sign noting they only use 100% domestic Sindongjin freshly harvested rice, which seems reassuring for anyone who cares about their rice!

What 1992 Deopbap is like at 7pm on a weekday, and where solo diners sit
Inside, there's an ordering kiosk on the left and, on the right, tables set up nicely for solo dining. We visited right around 7pm on a weekday, and the restaurant was pretty packed with dinner customers, with plenty of solo diners too.
+ There was even a line at the kiosk, with foreign customers ordering both in front of and behind us. The kiosk supports several languages, so it really does seem like a Gangnam spot that draws a lot of foreign visitors!
The menu at 1992 Deopbap: bibimbap, jjageuli, rice bowls and mini plates

The menu is really varied, not just the main dishes — bibimbap, jjageuli (Korean-style stew simmered in a small pot), and rice bowls — but sides like bite-sized savory pancakes, fried items, yukhoe as a side, grilled Spam, mini jjageuli, and mini rice bowls. I like trying a bit of everything, so having mini jjageuli and mini rice bowls is great for when you want to try too many things at once!

There are drinks and alcohol too, and they even sell meal kits — gochujang zucchini rice soup, doenjang beef jjageuli, and hearty jjageuli — so you can enjoy the 1992 Deopbap & Jjageuli menu at home! We ordered the Jeolla-do-style yukhoe rice bowl and the grilled jeyuk rice bowl, and I liked that there were so many options to choose when ordering.

Can you leave out side dishes? Kiosk options at 1992 Deopbap
Beyond choosing side dishes, you can pick a base option like steamed egg soufflé, kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), or swap in a canned drink, and add extra sides, toppings, or beverages. Among the options, you can also exclude dishes you don't want — being able to leave out food you won't eat ahead of time, cutting down on food waste, was a nice touch 👍
How ordering works, from the kiosk to the pickup counter

After ordering at the kiosk, you get a receipt and a number tag, and when your number appears on the screen you pick up your food yourself. You can grab an apron if you need one, and once you're done eating, you return your dishes to the return counter next to the pickup area.

Water is self-serve from a water purifier, and they even had hair ties, toothpicks, wet wipes, candy, and mouthwash on hand. A space where you could really feel the owner's thoughtfulness 🥰
They're also running a Naver MY Place receipt review event, so if you're satisfied with your visit, it might be worth joining. + After leaving a photo review with a verified receipt and showing it to staff, you get a free Coke, Sprite, or Coolpis.

A bit further inside, there are more seats set up nicely for solo dining, plus a separate group seating area. A few years back, when they were serving drinking-snack menus, I used that group seating once and remember the space being cozier than expected — I had a great, relaxed meal there 😌 The country-of-origin labels are carefully marked for each menu item, and the restrooms are separated by gender, which makes things convenient too!
Jeolla-do-style yukhoe rice bowl and grilled jeyuk rice bowl, 13,500 won each

Finally, the main dishes make their appearance ♥️
Jeolla-do-style yukhoe rice bowl ₩13,500 / Grilled jeyuk rice bowl ₩13,500
The side dishes were pickled radish strips, danmuji (yellow pickled radish), kimchi, and mini yakgwa (honey cookie), and for the included base option I picked steamed egg soufflé for a bit of extra protein.
📍 The Jeolla-do-style yukhoe rice bowl came generously topped with yukhoe (raw beef tartare), a fried egg, seaweed, cabbage, and scallion strips, meant to be mixed together — and mixing the specially seasoned yukhoe into the rice added a nutty, savory depth that was delicious! (I finished the whole bowl 🫢)

The fried egg came out with just the right soft yolk, which I loved ♥️ The grilled jeyuk rice bowl also had the pork well coated in a sweet-savory sauce with a nice smoky char, so even I, who doesn't usually go for jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork) rice bowls, enjoyed it a lot!

I'm not a fan of steamed egg soufflé that's either too watery or too dry, but this one was just firm enough with well-balanced seasoning — exactly my style ♥️ Between the two mains, the sides, the side dishes, and the yakgwa for dessert, it was all really delicious. I needed a staff member's help partway through, and even though they were clearly busy, they were super kind, which made for a lovely way to end a weekday evening.
