The kimchi jjigae was simmered with aged kimchi for a nicely sour flavor, and there were two pieces of tofu in it too.

The beef brisket doenjang jjageuli comes with a not-too-watery soybean-paste broth loaded with savory beef brisket. Ordered at regular spice level, it had a slight kick that got the appetite going. Mixing the jjageuli into the egg-blanket rice that came alongside it made for an absolute rice-thief combo — impossible to stop eating.
