Jeju haejangguk with easy parking for families: Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi
In short
Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi is a haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant on Hyeopjae 2-gil in Hallim-eup, Jeju City, known for bomal (sea snail) haejangguk and abalone pollock soup. Arriving by car with a child, the writer found plenty of parking spots around Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi and ate the sea snail haejangguk and the abalone pollock soup, both 13,000 won, with a short but clean set of side dishes: salted seafood, seaweed stems and dongchimi (water radish kimchi). The slightly peppery sea snail broth was the most memorable dish, and with a 6,000-won kids' beef haejangguk on the menu it made an easy family meal on a Jeju trip.

Today I'm sharing my visit to Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi, a well-known haejangguk (hangover soup) spot in Jeju. One of the foods I really crave while staying in Jeju is a hot, steaming soup, haha. Jeju has so many delicious things — black pork, sashimi, hairtail — you name it~

What we ordered: sea snail haejangguk and abalone pollock soup
We ordered the sea snail haejangguk and the abalone pollock soup! Both broths were really refreshing, and the sea snail haejangguk especially had a slightly spicy kick that made it so good, haha. Plus they have a separate kids' haejangguk, so it's a nice spot for families traveling in Jeju with children!

Is parking at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi easy?
There's quite a lot of parking space around Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi, so it was easy to visit by car! Parking is one of those things that quietly stresses you out when hunting for good restaurants in Jeju, right? Especially in Jeju, since most people get around by car, finding a great restaurant but not being able to park nearby can make you hesitant to even go — ugh. It matters even more when traveling with a kid, haha. Not having to circle around looking for a spot was more of a relief than I expected :)!

Side dishes: salted seafood, seaweed stems and dongchimi
The basic side dishes at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi were actually great precisely because they only served what was needed! Salted seafood and seaweed stems that really give you that seaside feeling~ haha. Each one was high quality and really tasty.

The kimchi was also cool and clean-tasting, so I had my husband ask for a refill, haha.

You can't have haejangguk without a chili pepper on the side, right? Eating one at a time kept my mouth from feeling bored, and it was just right :) You could tell they paid attention to every little detail :)!

It was an unusually hot day, and the cool dongchimi (watery radish kimchi) really hit the spot~ Eating the ice-cold dongchimi alongside the piping-hot ttukbaegi (earthenware pot) was such a perfect combo :)

Only what was needed, nothing missing — a tidy set of side dishes. It's a letdown when there are lots of side dishes but low quality, but at this well-known haejangguk restaurant in Jeju, everything was clean and satisfying, haha. The dish I was most looking forward to this time was the sea snail haejangguk! You can't talk about Jeju without sea snails, haha.

What does the sea snail haejangguk broth taste like?
The sea snail haejangguk (₩13,000) at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi wasn't a plain, clean broth — it had a slightly spicy finish. I often eat sea snail porridge or sea snail knife-cut noodles, but having it as a hot haejangguk like this was also great! I tried a spoonful of the broth first, and oh...!
The broth was really refreshing! Haha. It wasn't just a plain clean flavor — there was a slight spicy kick alongside it that kept my spoon going back for more. It wasn't too spicy or harsh, but the slightly spicy finish was exactly my style :)!
A spoonful of hot broth, then a bite of rice, then broth again, haha — this is exactly what eating haejangguk is all about, I thought. It would be great to visit the day after a night out with good food and drinks, but even without needing to cure a hangover, it's a satisfying meal on any day you're craving hot soup, haha.

Abalone pollock soup: a mild, clear broth
The other dish we ordered along with the sea snail haejangguk was the abalone pollock soup (₩13,000)! Pollock soup is already one of my favorite dishes because the broth is so refreshing, and with abalone added in, it really felt like a proper Jeju meal, haha. If the sea snail haejangguk was slightly spicy and refreshing, the abalone pollock soup was more of a comfortable, easy-to-eat broth dish.

Eating the hot broth together with rice was really satisfying :)! When traveling around Jeju, you can't always eat something heavy like black pork or sashimi every meal. Having a bowl of rice with warm broth in between feels like it settles your stomach, haha. It seemed like it would work especially well for breakfast or lunch!

We enjoyed both, but personally the sea snail haejangguk stuck with me a bit more, haha! I generally love soup dishes, and I prefer something refreshing with a slight spicy kick over something that's just plain spicy. The sea snail haejangguk at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi was exactly that :)! The hot broth really made me feel settled, haha. Even on days when I have plans starting early in Jeju, it would be great to eat this before heading out! If you're looking for a warm soup dish near Hyeopjae, give the sea snail haejangguk a try!

Why Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi works for a meal with kids
Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi had plenty of parking and a separate kids' beef haejangguk (₩6,000), which made it comfortable for a family visit. Traveling around Jeju with a kid really changes what you look for in a good restaurant compared to before, ugh. Good food is a given, but now I also check whether parking is convenient, whether there's a menu for the kid, and whether there's too much walking involved after getting out of the car, haha.
There was plenty of parking space around the restaurant, so it was easy to visit by car, and having the kids' haejangguk meant one less thing to worry about menu-wise! The adults could enjoy Jeju-style dishes like the sea snail haejangguk or abalone pollock soup, making it a nice family meal :)!

If you're looking for a well-known haejangguk spot near Hyeopjae, or want to try authentic Jeju sea snail dishes in a hot soup, this place is worth checking out :)! From the refreshing, slightly spicy sea snail haejangguk to the clean, easy abalone pollock soup — this was my write-up of a hearty family meal at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi, haha.
