Gwangju Seo-gu pasta restaurant: grapefruit ade Couple Set B, Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Sangmu Branch is a Western restaurant in Maewol-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, styled after a vintage classic Italian hotel. Couple Set B brought napa cabbage caesar salad, shrimp rosé pasta, jambon pizza, a single orange juice and a grapefruit ade, and the rosé sauce was thick and rich while the pizza dough stayed chewy. Weekends at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch fill up, so booking is safer, and the private lot behind the building makes driving there easy.

Today I'm introducing Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, a pasta spot in Gwangju. It's a restaurant with great atmosphere and the menu is solid across the board, so if you love Western food, I think it's worth a visit.
There's a private parking lot behind the building.
Open daily 11:00 - 22:00 / break time 16:00 - 16:30

Where is Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, and where do you park?
Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, a pasta spot in Gwangju, is located in Maewol-dong, and the exterior alone gives off great atmosphere! There was plenty of parking space behind the building too, so parking was easy.

There was a terrace seat with a European feel — the kind of place where having a cup of tea on a nice day would be lovely haha.

An interior inspired by the Titanic ballroom
Bueokgan Sangmu Branch's interior is apparently inspired by the Titanic's ballroom, done up in an Italian vintage classic hotel concept, and it really had a certain feel. Great place to come for a date ♥

Weekends are usually fully booked so it's better to make a reservation, while weekdays are a bit more relaxed. The photos came out bright, but the actual lighting inside is a bit dim, which made it feel cozier instead.

Window seats and seating at Bueokgan Sangmu Branch
There are quite a lot of tables, and all of them had good atmosphere and looked pretty haha. Window seats especially seemed popular since they photograph so well. The backrests also made the seats feel more comfortable!

They sell a variety of wines and champagnes, so it seems like a good place to come for anniversaries or celebrations. The staff were kind too.
What is on the menu?
There was a wide range of Western dishes, but the set menu options looked especially good to me. I saw a lot of people coming with family too! There were so many pizza and pasta varieties that looked delicious, it was hard to choose.

This is the basic table setting they give you, and it was clean and tidy.

What comes with Couple Set B?
I ordered Couple Set B (napa cabbage caesar salad + shrimp rosé pasta + jambon pizza + single orange juice + grapefruit ade). The food came out fairly quickly.

The single orange juice tasted pretty plain, but the grapefruit ade looked great and was refreshing, so it was the tastier of the two. I'd recommend the ade.

Napa cabbage caesar salad
You could choose from three salads, and I picked the signature napa cabbage caesar salad. It comes with grilled napa cabbage topped with sun-dried tomatoes, bacon chips, onion flakes and cheese.

The napa cabbage was crisp yet soft, so eating it with the cheese was great, and it also went well with the pizza, cutting through the richness!

Jambon pizza
The jambon pizza was also a popular menu item — a wood-fired pizza topped with jambon, honey and pistachios. It's best eaten while still warm. I was torn between ordering steak, but the pizza was so good I was glad I got it!

I thought the jambon would make it salty, but it was just salty enough and paired well with the sweet honey! The dough was also nice and chewy. Anyone who loves pizza would probably love Bueokgan.

Shrimp rosé pasta
The shrimp rosé pasta has shrimp and button mushrooms in a rosé sauce. The sauce was on the thicker, richer side, which was exactly my style haha. The portion was just right for two people to share.

The noodles were cooked just right, and the plump shrimp gave it great texture! The rosé sauce was well-seasoned and delicious. I had high expectations for a pasta spot in Gwangju, and it lived up to them. The other pastas looked good too, so next time I want to try the basil pesto cream pasta!
Is Bueokgan Sangmu Branch worth a visit?
I've enjoyed other branches before too, and as expected, Bueokgan's pizza and pasta were both above average, which was satisfying. It's a great spot for a date, and also perfect for get-togethers with friends. Give Bueokgan Sangmu Branch, a pasta spot in Gwangju, a visit haha.
