Pohang mulhoe restaurant at 10:15am, before the 11am queue: Ppwang

Ppwang Mulhoe sits in a great spot right in front of Yeongildae Beach — easy to reach right from the main strip!!

Parking right in front of the restaurant looks like it can fit 7–8 cars easily. But don't worry even if it's full — there's a big parking area just nearby. (When I catch a ride here, I park there and hang out at Yeongildae.)

Honestly, the view was amazing. Floor-to-ceiling windows on the first floor with Yeongildae right outside... no words needed.

Inside Ppwang Mulhoe: clean seating, and diners in before the 10:30 opening

The inside was really clean! It opens at 10:30, but even though I arrived at 10:15, there were already people inside lol (looks like they open a bit early once guests show up).

The free self bar: unlimited somyeon noodles and side dishes

The self bar quality is so good. I feel like you could make a whole meal out of just the self bar side dishes. You can add as much somyeon (thin wheat noodles) as you want too — I wondered if they were really okay giving out this much.

They even have squid soup..!!! What's really impressive is it tastes exactly like squid soup freshly made at a regular restaurant. (I was genuinely amazed.)

They also give you fried squid if you leave a receipt review... (I ordered mine, but you all should use the review event!) Because it's seriously so good haha.

This self bar feels almost unbelievable... the fried food here is really good. (Wait, it's sitting out at a self bar and it's NOT soggy!!!!) I dip it in the tteokbokki sauce too haha. They've got chili sauce and yangnyeom chicken sauce(?) ready so you can enjoy it however you like!!!

Squid and flounder half-and-half mulhoe: how much raw fish do you get?

I ordered the squid + flounder half-and-half mulhoe!! You all know I always give honest reviews, right? Out of all the mulhoe restaurants I've been to in Pohang, this one had the most raw fish. And it was fresh, too. The squid sashimi was so chewy with that particular sweetness... you all know what I mean, right?

It was genuinely so good T^T I finished eating and immediately sent the address to my friends in Pohang lol.

If you compare this to my other reviews, you'll know that when I recommend something this strongly, it's the real deal haha.

Why you should order the fried squid too

I was torn between squid pancake and fried squid, and ended up ordering the fried squid!! But seriously, you all need to try the fried squid too. It's genuinely delicious... (I've lost count of how many times I've said that.)

Actually, at the end, a squid pancake ended up on our table for 3 seconds by a serving mistake, and oh man,, seeing how it looked, my friend and I both said at the same time, "Hey, should we order the pancake too?" lol. We were so full we couldn't do it T^T

Adding somyeon noodles to the mulhoe for a filling finish

Before adding the noodles, I ate it a bit more concentrated with less broth!!!

When you add the noodles, pour in more of the mulhoe seasoning/broth(?)!! Since all the ingredients are packed in generously, you can really eat your fill this way!

What time should you arrive for mulhoe at Yeongildae on a weekend?

The weather was great today too so I was in a great mood, and I found such an amazing mulhoe spot that I was making a fuss the whole time I ate lol. And here's the surprising part — by 11am, the waiting line had already started... on weekends you really need to move fast haha. Doing the opening run was such a smart move!

Do you know that mulhoe restaurant near Yeongildae in Pohang that travelers are always lined up for? The wait there is seriously insane — that was actually the first mulhoe place I visited when I came to Pohang,, (wait, am I allowed to say this..? let me know if not... sorry). I've never once seen a local go there, and I really don't get why so many travelers do — but seriously, go check this place out instead.. I'm saying this comparing honestly since I see a lot of my friends here...

Including this visit, I've now been to 5 different mulhoe restaurants just around Yeongildae! As of now, this is my number one. (Purely my own opinion.)
