I was trying to figure out what to eat while on a date near Anguk, and that's how I ended up at Low Five Anguk ✨ I used CatchTable to remote-wait, so I was able to go at the time I actually wanted.

Low Five Anguk is near Anguk Station, so it was easy to get to. And the exterior really stands out — so pretty!

Walking in, the interior was clean overall but still had a stylish sense to it. It wasn't too dark or noisy, so it felt comfortable to sit and eat, and the tables weren't crammed together either. It seemed like it would work well not just for friends, but for a date with a partner or even a slightly dressed-up occasion like a pre-wedding gathering!

We ordered 🍕 taco pizza and a beer too — getting served in the glass that matches the brand is the best... that satisfaction when one bottle fits perfectly into the glass, good 🫶

The pizza portion was more generous than I expected, which I liked. Pizza is definitely best eaten while it's warm...! We dug in right after it arrived, and since it's cooked in a wood-fired oven, the crust was on the lighter, less greasy side, which I liked. Personally, when I eat pizza I sometimes leave the crust edges behind even if the toppings are great, but here the crust stayed light all the way to the end, so I could eat it without any guilt.

Also, the sauce was on the slightly spicy side, so it didn't get tiring even after eating pizza slice after slice! The pizza itself had a decent portion, and with that spicy sauce, one slice made your hand reach for another!

Eating it alongside beer, I could tell it would also pair well with a highball or similar drinks — pizza and beer, can't resist! It also seemed like a good option for sharing among a group, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for pizza near Anguk Station ⭐️

How does the truffle cream pasta taste

The second dish was the truffle cream pasta. Cream pasta can get a bit much if it's too heavy or greasy, but this one had a subtle truffle aroma that I liked. The sauce was on the thick, rich side, so it coated the noodles well, and each bite brought out the nutty, smooth flavor of the cream nicely. In particular, the truffle scent wasn't overpowering — it lingered subtly, which I personally liked even more.

If the pizza leaned slightly spicy, the pasta leaned rich and creamy, so switching between the two made for a great combo. Rather than eating pizza the whole time, mixing in the cream pasta changed up the flavor and made the meal even more enjoyable.

The full shot 📸 Overall, the portions were generous, so ordering two dishes for two people was plenty to fill us up. If you go with friends or a partner and order a few dishes to share, you can enjoy a wider variety of flavors — there were a couple more items on the menu I was curious about... 🐷

In particular, having dishes like pizza and pasta that are good for sharing among several people made it seem like a good option for group gatherings too. Sometimes when you're looking for a good restaurant around Anguk, you only get one or the other — good atmosphere or good food — but Low Five Anguk managed to check both boxes, which I liked. So it seems like it would suit not just dates but meals with friends and gatherings like pre-wedding get-togethers.

Service and hospitality

The staff were friendly, so I could eat comfortably. I could easily ask about anything I needed, and overall the staff were kind and attentive, so I never felt uncomfortable throughout the meal. It was also nice that they made sure the food was set up to eat right away as soon as it arrived, and overall the service felt polished. Tasty food matters, but keeping a comfortable atmosphere throughout the meal matters too, in its own quiet way, and I was satisfied on that front.

(One thing that stood out: a kid was standing outside the restroom not knowing whether it was occupied, and staff noticed and checked for them 👀)

Low Five Anguk struck me as a restaurant that suits dates especially well, since both the food and the interior are lovely. Anguk itself is a great neighborhood for dates, so it's easy to walk around before or after the meal, and the clean, stylish space makes it decent for photos too 📸

The portions are generous, and with shareable dishes like pizza and pasta, it also seems good for pre-wedding gatherings or meals with friends. Personally, I prefer places where I can chat over a meal without too much noise or chaos, and on that front too, I was very satisfied 🙌
