Concasse Anguk is tucked away on a peaceful little alley :) Anguk’s characteristically quiet, calm neighborhood atmosphere works so beautifully with the hanok-style interior.

You can catch a little glimpse of the interior even from outside, and the decor looked so lovely that I couldn't wait to go in.

While we waited, we were choosing what to order too :)

The moment we stepped in, I could feel the warm atmosphere unique to a hanok. The charming exposed ceiling rafters and antique-style wooden furniture came together to create such a calm feeling :)

You could tell that so much care had gone into every corner, so every photo came out beautifully. There is a large solid-wood table in the center and tables for four too, making it just right for couples or friends. Personally, I think I loved it even more because there were so many plants :)

Three dishes we tried ourselves

We ordered from the QR code on the table, choosing three dishes: Beef Wellington, potato gnocchi, and halibut steak with doenjang (fermented soybean paste) risotto. After a short wait, the food began arriving one dish at a time, and the potato gnocchi came first :)

It looked delicious right away, and one bite confirmed it: crisp on the outside, with a chewy yet tender potato texture inside. It was so good 🥲 The cream sauce could have felt rich, but the savory, deep mushroom flavor balanced it out, so I never got tired of it.

An unfamiliar but wonderful halibut and doenjang pairing

Next came the halibut steak with doenjang risotto, and the halibut-doenjang combination was truly delicious! It was unfamiliar to me at first, but there was none of that fishy taste at all—just loads of umami. The halibut was moist and delicately flavored, so I enjoyed it so much 🥲

Then came Concasse’s signature dish, the Beef Wellington. A thick steak arrives wrapped in crisp pastry, and the perilla leaf between the meat and pastry cuts through the richness perfectly while holding onto all those lovely juices. It was really, really delicious 👍

It looks luxurious from the start, so it would be the perfect dish to order for a special occasion or date. It is Concasse’s signature dish that you really have to try :) True to a great Western restaurant near Anguk Station, not a single dish missed the mark, and it was such a satisfying meal.

They also have a variety of red and white wines, so I think it would be wonderful to pair a meal with wine here on a special day :)

I fell for the Anguk-dong atmosphere, and every dish we ordered was a huge success, so my friend and I had a lovely time at Concasse. I highly recommend Concasse Anguk to anyone wanting a delicious meal near Anguk Station! Even the mood of the space was perfect, making me want to return :)
