Samcheong-dong snack bar Snack Seoul: tteokbokki and slushy makgeolli
In short
Snack Seoul is a second-floor modern bunsik (Korean snack food) restaurant on Palpan-gil, along the Samcheong-dong culture street in Jongno, Seoul. The meal was cheese nurungji (scorched rice) pollack roe tteokbokki at 19,000 won, pollack roe egg gimtae rolls at 13,000 won and fried mandu at 4,000 won, with green grape and Chodang corn slushy makgeolli at 7,000 won each; the only letdown was the mild tteokbokki, which could have used more heat. Snack Seoul is now a set repeat stop on a Bukchon date course.

Snack Seoul is a modern gimbap restaurant on the second floor of 46 Palpan-gil, tucked into Samcheong-dong's culture street in Jongno, Seoul. I fell in love after one visit and I'm definitely going back — let me introduce this Samcheong-dong restaurant, this Anguk gimbap spot. Just order exactly what we ordered this time, seriously. The slushy makgeolli was.... insane

MENU & PRICE

What does Snack Seoul's house-brewed slushy makgeolli taste like?
Snack Seoul's signature is their own handmade, self-developed makgeolli. What's special here is that it's raw makgeolli — not sweet, refreshingly crisp, and a perfect match for the gimbap dishes, making the Samcheong-dong mood that much more special!

Slushy makgeolli, 7,000 won

We had the green grape and Chodang corn slushy makgeolli. It really did taste great. Cold and refreshing with zero artificial aftertaste, and it went down so smoothly — genuinely the perfect slushy makgeolli!
Cheese nurungji pollack roe tteokbokki, 19,000 won
Cheese nurungji (scorched rice) pollack roe tteokbokki is Snack Seoul's signature dish at ₩19,000. Chewy yet crispy cheese nurungji on top of the pollack roe tteokbokki... just thinking about it is already amazing, right? The nuttiness doubles up — this is seriously next-level delicious. You choose between mild and spicy, and adding a boiled egg is +₩1,000.
Tear off a bit of the cheese nurungji and underneath is packed with really tasty wheat rice cakes — super chewy and genuinely delicious tteokbokki.

It's also loaded with pollack roe — a dish you keep thinking about after one bite. We got the mild version, but I think it could've used a bit more spice!

Pollack roe egg gimtae roll, 13,000 won

The pollack roe egg gim-tae roll is ₩13,000. Try the thick roll packed full of soft pollack roe egg that fills your whole mouth. This could honestly be called another signature dish of Snack Seoul — that's how compelling it was.

Fried mandu, 4,000 won
The fried mandu is ₩4,000 for 3 pieces. Dipped lightly in soy sauce, they're just right. And of course, highly recommend eating them with the slushy makgeolli!

Why Snack Seoul works for a Bukchon date
I love Bukchon as a spot in Seoul, and I'm so happy to have found such a delicious, stylish gimbap restaurant there. Snack Seoul is now my #1 recommended restaurant for a Bukchon date! Go and make sure you try the slushy makgeolli and the signature cheese nurungji pollack roe tteokbokki.
