Hongdae Korean BBQ with grilled pork belly: Gogi Salon
In short
Gogi Salon is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, a 6-minute walk from Hongik University Station. I ordered pork belly, rib finger meat, doenjang sulbap, and cold beer while the staff grilled everything at the table. Verdict: the intensely meaty pork belly was the standout.

A pork belly restaurant near Hongik University Station where staff grill the meat
Today I visited Gogi Salon (고기살롱), one of the good pork belly spots near Hongik University Station. Haha. The staff grill the meat for you, so it is great for an easy date meal, and I would also recommend it for company dinners or group gatherings. Most of all, the meat is seriously delicious..!

The restaurant is kept nice and clean! More than anything, I loved how cushy the chairs were hehe.

Our pork belly and rib finger meat order
They also have value set menus, plus everything from individual cuts to side dishes. We ordered à la carte!
- Rib finger meat ₩19,000
- Pork belly ₩16,000
- Doenjang sulbap (rice simmered in soybean-paste stew) ₩6,000
- Steamed rice ₩1,000
- Beer ₩6,000
One serving of each meat, plus doenjang sulbap and beer, made us pleasantly full for two people. Haha.

Three sauces—wasabi, salt, and whole-grain mustard sauce—plus neatly prepared house-made side dishes! The soy-marinated raw crab was especially delicious with white rice~!!! It did not taste fishy at all.

I had had a tough day doing DIY interior work, so... haha, I added a simple bottle of beer! By the way, the beer at Gogi Salon near Hongik University Station is seriously cold and delicious. The moment you take a sip, it feels like everything opens right up.

Pork belly with an intensely meaty flavor
Ta-da~ Here is the meat we were having today. Haha. Lately pork neck has been tasting especially good to me again, so I debated what to order, but went with pork belly!? Best choice ever. It had such a rich meaty aroma—deeply flavorful and nutty—and it was the best thing I had eaten recently...!!!!

If you are looking for a meat restaurant near Hongik University Station where the staff grill for you, I recommend Gogi Salon. My boyfriend liked being able to eat comfortably too, and they grill everything so deliciously ㅠㅠ We were eating it while applauding. Hehe.

Chewy, clean-tasting rib finger meat
Ta-da, the rib finger meat is ready. This cut was packed with juices. It was so chewy that it got more delicious with every bite. It was mild and clean-tasting, making it easy to enjoy. Haha.

I am someone who absolutely has to eat rice with meat... haha. I ordered doenjang sulbap, but also got a bowl of rice. How delicious is it when you put a piece of meat on white rice~~

Doenjang sulbap, a great side with meat
This is doenjang sulbap, the side dish we ordered to have alongside the meat. It comes with rice simmered right into a properly delicious soybean-paste stew. It was full of ingredients such as meat and tofu, so it was a satisfying menu item.

While we ate the rib finger meat, the pork belly was grilling. Haha. Again, they grill it all for you, so you can focus on your meal! And they really do grill it beautifully.. ㅠ.ㅠ Crisp on the outside, moist and tender inside—so delicious.

They even plate it beautifully. Look at that alluring visual. The balance of fat and meat was a perfect golden ratio, with such a deep meaty flavor that it felt like eating beef!!

Finishing with salt, sauces, and ssam wraps
Because the meat itself was so good, the very best way was simply dipping it lightly in salt. Haha. Then I alternated wasabi and whole-grain mustard, made ssam (Korean lettuce wraps), and before I knew it, it was gone.. For two people, two servings of meat plus doenjang sulbap and beer made for a perfectly filling, delicious meal. >.<
It tastes even better because the staff grill it professionally. It is also a great place for dates, meeting the parents, company dinners, and group gatherings!
