In short

Chibao is a Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor of Starfield Anseong in Gyeonggi-do. On a weekday evening visit with a child, the three-dish set of jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), fried rice and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) came to 27,900 won, and the smoky jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) broth and main-dish-sized portion of fried rice stood out most. I visited Chibao at Starfield Anseong with my kid on a weekday evening. We ordered a set that included jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), fried rice, and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and it turned out to be a really satisfying meal. The value for money was excellent — the smoky jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) broth plus the generous fried rice portion made for a very satisfying meal, and being able to get tangsuyuk too at that price was fantastic.

How smoky is the jjamppong broth at Chibao?

The first thing that caught my attention at Chibao was the jjamppong broth. From the very first sip, the smoky wok-hei flavor hit hard — you could taste that distinctive character from being stir-fried over high heat in a wok. It was definitely a broth with real fire flavor, unlike your average jjamppong.

That kind of smokiness is hard to replicate at home, so it's a charm you can only get from a proper Chinese restaurant. I've been to some genuinely famous jjamppong spots in Gangneung, and honestly this broth held its own against even the so-called 'top 3 jjamppong' places. It's just the broth that comes with the fried rice, but it made me want an actual bowl of jjamppong. T_T!

Chibao's jjajangmyeon, fried rice and tangsuyuk set: 27,900 won

We ordered the set that included fried rice, jjajangmyeon, and tangsuyuk, priced at ₩27,900. Being able to enjoy all three dishes at this price felt genuinely reasonable. Ordering each item separately would have added up quickly, but bundled as a set, it felt like great value.

How big is the fried rice portion in the Chibao set?

The amount of fried rice included in the set was truly surprising. It was generous enough that you wouldn't even need a large-size option. Usually the fried rice that comes as a side in a set menu is a modest portion, but here it was served in main-dish-sized quantities.

It wasn't just the quantity — the flavor was excellent too. Every grain of rice was evenly coated with that smoky, savory flavor, making it hard to stop eating. Even sharing it with my kid, there was still plenty left over.

Is Chibao's jjajangmyeon easy for kids to eat?

The jjajangmyeon was excellent as well. The noodles were cooked to a springy, chewy texture that made for a great bite. The chunjang (black bean) sauce wasn't overly sweet and had a nice savory depth, making for a comfortable, non-spicy flavor. It was gentle enough for my child to enjoy without any issue, making it a great dish for the whole family.

The tangsuyuk included in the set was another highlight. The batter was crispy outside and soft inside, paired well with a sweet and tangy sauce. Along with the jjajangmyeon and fried rice, it made for a really filling spread. My kid especially loved the sauce — its thick sweetness made it easy for her to naturally eat the meat too.

Visiting Chibao with a child on a weekday evening

Visiting on a weekday evening with my child, the location inside Starfield made it easy to get to and convenient to combine with shopping or other errands afterward. The menu wasn't spicy or overwhelming, so it worked well for my kid, and the generous portions made it feel especially satisfying for a family visit.
